    all games crash!

    I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
    Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
    What happens?
    If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

    P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
    Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
    What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

  3. DistributedCOM (warning 10016) keeps freezing/crashing my PC randomly

    Hi,

    just got a new pc, freshly installed (twice) and everything. It's brand new hardware, everything updated to the latest version (BIOS, drivers, firmwares, ... ). I've done a sfc /scannow, which 'repaired' 100 errors. I've done a memorycheck and everything.
    It started first when Oculus Rift was running and hardware was plugged in. I disabled the Digital Audio Nvidia drivers as suggested and also a Windows System Check. Which seemed to help, at first. It didn't crash anymore during use of Oculus Rift software/hardware with other applications open (like Chrome and such).

    But it still crashes/freezes randomly.
    I've checked the eventlog and the same 3 DCOM warnings keep popping up, around the same time the pc freezes. Sometimes even a BSOD clock_watchdog_timeout.
    These are:
    ShellServiceHost : CLSID {6B3B8D23-FA8D-40B9-8DBD-B950333E2C52} APPID {4839DDB7-58C2-48F5-8283-E1D1807D0D7D}

    Immersive Shell : {C2F03A33-21F5-47FA-B4BB-156362A2F239} APPID {316CDED5-E4AE-4B15-9113-7055D84DCC97}
    PerAppRuntimeBroker : {2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54} APPID {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}

    I've also found some crashdumps in my local appdata that also point to some errors.
    The dumpfile of SystemSettings, with error-code : c000041d

    and Home2-Win64-Shipping with error-code : c0000005 (this is from the Oculus software, although this one doesn't seem to happen anymore.

    I've tried doing the solutions regarding the 10016 warnings, presented here:
    https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/fix-distributedcom-error-10016-windows/

    [FIX] DCOM Event 10016 Error in Windows 11/10

    I get as far until the Component Services, where I never seem to get permission to adjust the start/launch options. But also, they seem to be configured as suggested. So in a way, that would work either.
    I also tried the first method of the first link. I can remove all those suggested, except for 'MachineLaunchRestriction', which just changes into 'MachineLaunchRestrictionOld'

    My computer is

    • i7 13700k
    • 32GM RAM 3600
    • Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus Wifi D4
    • Asus Nvidia Geforce RTX3060 OC dual
    • Samsung 980 Pro SSD and Seagate HDD
    • Windows 10 (Home)

    I've seen post claiming these 10016 warning are unlikely the cause to crash a system. But apparently they do with mine. I've already exhausted every avenue, and these 10016 warnings are the only ones in the log just after a crash has happened.

    Also, why can't I seem to make a backup system copy anymore, while I have more than enough space on that partition. The backup file is calculated at around 200Gb while the partion is 250Gb. So why all of a sudden I can't create a backup anymore?

    Hope for some help. This shouldn't happen with a brand new computer. Or is Windows still not up-to-date with the 13th Gen Intel processors?

    Cheers,

    Windows 10 keeps crashing

    Hi,

    There are many possible reasons why the computer will keeps on crashing. One of which is missing or corrupted system files. For us to further isolate the issue, we suggest answering the following questions:

    • What exactly are you accessing/doing when the computer crashes?
    • Were you still able to login to the computer after it happens?
    • Can you send us a screenshot of the error messages or mini dump that you've received?

    In the meantime, if you're seeing a blue screen when the computer crashes, we suggest following the steps on this article:
