Windows 10: PC keeps freezes, have to hold power button down in order to shut down then restart

This has been happening for a week now where at any point while using my computer, it will either freeze entirely or the taskbar will just stop responding. In the latter case, if I save anything that I am working on during that state, the file that was saved ends up getting corrupted, and clicking shut down or restart doesnt do anything. In both cases, the only way to get out it is by holding down the power button on my computer.This has happened 8 times so far, with the latter four happening over the past 24 hours. Initially, I thought it would happen if I didnt shut my pc down after 24 hours

PC freezes while shutting down/restarting, have to force shut down

Basically after just a few seconds of shutting down/restarting the PC just completely freezes with the spinning circle stopping and it never shuts down until I force shut down. This has been happening for a few days now. I have tried to look up solutions myself but every video I've seen on the issue the spinning circle keeps going rather than freezing so I think my problem might be different. I tried basic stuff like sfc /scannow, chkdsk /f, dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, and also in gpedit I enabled the highly detailed status messages but the only text that shows before it freezes is shutting down/restarting so I can't figure out where it's having problems shutting down. Looked in the event viewer as well even after waiting over a half hour at the frozen screen but I can't see anything obvious that sticks out, in both the application and system sections. However in safe mode I'm able to shut down/restart normally, so perhaps it could point to a software issue? UPDATE: I also asked this question on reddit and someone suggested that it could be a BIOS update that I recently installed because he has seen several HP PCs that had the problem with failed shutdowns. I don't know how I can go about reverting the update or perhaps I can factory reset BIOS? I tried to recover the BIOS with Win + B and holding the power button for 2-3 seconds like it says to do for HP and although it said it recovered the BIOS, it didn't revert the version back to default so I'm still having this issue. No guarantees it would solve the issue but I think it's likely, any suggestions?

 

PC keeps restarting

1) Shut down the PC
2) After what appears to be shutdown, hold the power button in for a full 30 seconds, then release.
3) Push power button to restart and immediately start hammering the Esc key repeatedly.

Does that get you into the BIOS?

To assist you better, I would like to ask what are the methods that you have tried to solve the issue.

The issue might occur if the computer is not shut down properly. so, I suggest you to perform a power drain by follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Shut down the Computer.
• Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
• Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
• Connect the power source and start the computer.
• After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.
