PC keeps losing contact with bluetooth mouse

For the last couple of weeks my PC has started losing contact with its bluetooth mouse. It generally happens after the mouse has not been used for a few minutes, or when it goes to sleep but not always.

I can fix it by running the Bluetooth Troubleshooter or just turning Bluetooth on and off on the PC. The PC itself has an on-board bluetooth/wifi module on a Gigabyte GA-H97N-WIFI and I am really stumped with this. The PC is fully up to date Win10 x64 Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.630). I tried updating to the latest Intel Bluetooth drivers and it didn't help and I can't roll back. I tried using the latest Intel Graphics driver, but it ruined the TV card graphics so I had to revert to the Gigabyte supplied driver.

I tried disabling bluetooth in the BIOS (with an aim of resetting the drivers) and failed. There is not a switch in the BIOS. I could turn off both the ON Board LAN settings, but it did not disable the bluetooth.

From Device Manager I've tried deleting the Intel Bluetooth device, and I am not sure what else I can delete from there to reload them.

Before you mention the mouse, I have changed its batteries and the whole mouse (I have two BM308 mice). The problem happens with both mice on the PC and neither mouse on the laptop. Obviously, having changed the mice I've had to unpair and re-pair them. Turning the mouse off and on does not help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

PC keeps losing contact with bluetooth mouse

Don't know if it will help with your motherboard, the 2 Desktops I have with Wireless don't have Bluetooth. Nearly all Notebooks that have Bluetooth have it as part of the Wireless/Wi-Fi adapter, turn that off and the BT is also off. I use half a dozen BT mice with Notebooks, keep one in each case. Have 1 Notebook without BT so use an iogear USB dongle with it. Only have 1 Notebook with an 802.11ac adapter but my Wireless Router is 802.11n, couple three times a day it will disconnect, just have to go to Airplane mode then back to Wireless mode, other than that it works pretty good. Nice part of BT is it frees up a USB port for the mouse, it's a biggy when having only 2 ports to begin with. I did have issues with earlier versions of BT but 4 has been pretty good, haven't seen 5 yet but maybe if I get a new Notebook.

    Bluetooth Mouse losing connection

    Hi Joyce,

It's possible that some settings are preventing your Bluetooth mouse from working properly. We'd like to learn more about your concern so that we could provide the proper resolution. We just have a few questions for you:

    • Which build version of Windows 10 is on your computer? To check, click
      Start
, type winver, and press Enter. For example, 14393.1066.
    • Have you tried pairing the mouse with a different computer to check if it works?

As initial recommendation, we suggest using the built-in troubleshooter, which can find and fix common Bluetooth problems. Follow these steps to do so:

    • Click Start.
    • Go to Settings.
    • Click Update & Security.
    • Click Troubleshoot.
    • Under Find and fix other problems, select Bluetooth.
    • Click Run the troubleshooter.

We look forward to your response and the results of the initial troubleshooting.
