Windows 10: PC not picking up USB microphone

I purchased a PC a few weeks ago, and two days ago I plugged in my USB microphone for the first time, a Rode USB mic, only to find the PC isn't reacting to it being plugged in at all. This is not an issue with the microphone, I booted up my old PC yesterday, plugged in the mic, and it was automatically registered as an audio input device, both PCs run on Windows 10I checked the settings to see if it simply hadn't switched over to it, this is not the case, according to the drop down in my settings there are ''No Input Devices''This is not an issue with the USB ports, I have plugged multiple acc

Microphone issues

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

• Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
  
• Corrupted or outdated driver
  
• Faulty device
  

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
  
• Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
  
• Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?
  

In the meantime, we suggest running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter to find and repair problems with recording sound. We also suggest checking if your microphone is set as your default recording device. For troubleshooting steps, please see

Microphone still unable to pick up sound from Dragon Speech

Not a techie at all sorry but follow your general drift which is interesting. I've now got a mike input (USB Pro Sound) but how do you make the connection to the headphone output as there's two separate wires ?

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 pc and community member like you. Let us work together to sort this out.

First, try to connect the USB mic using a different device for us to check if the issue is with the computer or the USB mic itself.

If it does the same using a different device means that the USB mic is faulty.

If the USB mic works using a different device proceed with the steps below.

-Press Windows key + X

-Go to Settings

-Click Update and Security

-Click Troubleshooter then Additional troubleshooter.

-Look for Speech and run the troubleshooter.

Once done proceed with these steps.

-Press Windows key + X

-Go to Device Manager

-Expand the Audio Input and Output

-Look for Microphone driver that was installed

-Right click and Update

-Look for "Browse my computer for driver

-Let me pick drivers available drivers

-Choose an old driver and use it.

Connect the USB mic and proceed with these steps.

-Go to Control Panel

-In Control Panel, select Large icons from the View by drop down menu.

-Select Sound.

-Select the Recording tab

-Right click the USB Microphone and click Enable.

-Right-click it again and select Set as Default Device.

-Right click USB Microphone and click Properties.

-Click the Levels tab, then drag the volume slider towards the largest value.

-Click OK

-Click Advance Tab

-Uncheck the box to "Allow application to take exclusive control on this device"

Turn on Microphone Privacy in each app.

Select Start > Settings > Privacy > Microphone . In Allow access to the microphone on this device, select Change and make sure Microphone access for this device is turned on.

Then, allow apps access to your microphone.

Once you've allowed microphone access to your apps, you can change the settings for each app.

Restart and check the Microphone.

If issue persist, let's download the updated driver.

What is the exact model of your computer?

To check the system model proceed with these steps.

-Press Windows key + R

-Type msinfo32 and hit enter.

-Look for the System Model and manufacturer and post it here.
