Windows 10: PC not recognizing any audio devices

[COLOR=rgba69, 69, 69, 1]Hi, I am new to PC’s and just got my prebuilt today since graphics cards were out of stock. When I plug in my headphones or speakers into my PC, i cannot hear anything and they don’t show up as a recognized input or output device. After searching for a solution I tried updating the audio driver to match my motherboard which is an MSI mag b550 tomahawk. I installed the driver from the MSI site and ran the setup but it made no difference. In device manager under sound, video and game controllers there is no realtek audio listing. I tried going to action and adding legacy hardware, but when I try that my screen goes blue and says your computer ran into a problem : and then restarts. I tried following a different MSI tutorial telling me to install realtek audio control, but when I try to install that from the microsoft store I get an error and can’t install it, getting an error code 0x803FB005. Does anyone have any ideas for how I could fix this issue?[/COLOR]

I suggest you run the sound troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Type “troubleshooting” in search box and press Enter.
• Click on View All on top left pane.
• Click on Playing audio from the list and follow the on-screen prompt for troubleshooting.

Unable to add Device (New Speakers)

I performed these actions, but no solution was generated. The end result was that the troubleshooter says: "Audio Services Not Responding" (which I knew already). My PC will not allow me to add a new device. Here is a synopsis of some of the dialog I
saw:

Device - Found (Realtek Hi-Def. Audio)

Drivers - Up to Date

Device - Working

Properties Info - "Requires Further Installation"

No "enhancements" were checked off, save for a check in the "Immediate Mode" box

Under "Advanced" it says: 16bit 44100Hz.

I was asked to restart my PC and afterwards it no longer recognizes the device (Realtek Hi-Def. Audio).

 

No audio output device

Hello!
I have a common problem: my Windows 10 has No Audio Output Device.
System configuration:

• Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBN (laptop)
• Windows 10 Pro, version 1909, build 18363.535;
• Current updates;

Device manager shows these audio devices:

• High Definition Audio Device (driver version 10.0.18362.356)
• Intel Display Audio (10.27.0.6)
• ASUS Xonar U3 (10.0.8.2164)

i.e. the problem persists even with an external (USB) audio device, recognized by the system.

I performed a sanity check on this issue. Sound works when I boot into Ubuntu live. Therefore, it is not a hardware problem, and is indeed a Windows problem.

Solutions that have not worked so far:

1. Audio troubleshooter (issues found: check audio device, nothing else)
2. Rolling back drivers
3. Uninstalling audio devices
4. Uninstalling any audio-related devices, incl. the likes of bluetooth speakers
5. Updating audio drivers (from both built-in drivers and from manufacturer's site)
6. Installing a generic audio device (installing a generic USB audio device does not succeed, and installing a generic Realtek device resulted in a BSOD)

Do you have any ideas for fixing this?
