Pc Only recieves Mic Input or Produces audio output from the green cable of my headset...

I'd consider myself fairly tech savvy, but this has had me stumped since Friday the 29th and i can't find any solutions for it elsewhere. Basically, randomly in the middle of a call Not immediately after a windows or driver update my mic randomly stopped working. I initially thought it was a splitter issue but when i bought a new one it turned out it wasn't. basically, if i put the green audio cable in my audio port on the pc, it'll play audio. If i put it in the mic port on the pc, it'll recieve input from the mic. I haven't been able to find ANY fixes for this, i've tried uninstalling dr

    :)

Laptop not splitting headset mic & audio?

    Hi
Simple version. When i plug in my headset to my laptop windows10 is not splitting it into one output and one input.

I fixed this years back by setting the popup box 'whats plugged in' from headphone to headset. Then it split the audio and mic. However i had to reinstall windows and now when i select headset it just mutes my laptop mic and audio manager just shows the one mic, but two audio outputs.

It was working before the reset and i have tested the headset on another computer and it is working find.
So far i tried device manage audio driver install, for both Realtek driver and High Definition driver but either resolve the issue.

Any suggestions why windows would pick up one and not the other?

I currently have it set to headphone plugged in so that i can use my laptop mic, but ive been told i sound really bad *Sad

    Cheers,
    Zola

  3. PC Not identifying both Headset output and Mic input at the same time

Recently bought a new pc and using an old Sony W1000mx3 Headset with a aux cable and mic. It worked on my old HP Omen. However since moving to this PC i can get either the audio to work, or the mic input. It depends to which port I have plugged into on the front. Previously the earphone port server as a input for the mic aswell with the headset but currently I cant get it to work. I have tried various drivers and updates but made no progress. I am on Windows 11. What should I try?

How can I record playback audio and mic?

I've actually managed to my problem, just by Googling...after finally figuring out what to Google.

Problem: Using Audicity, I wanted to record audio of myself singing karaoke. Sound inputs

    • YouTube video playing from Google Chrome
    • G933 Logitech Headset (or any USB mic for that matter)

Two applications required for this. Download these two apps. When installing, make sure you Run As Administrator for each. Install each app, then reboot your PC.

    In Windows 10

    1. Go to Control Panel>Sounds>Playback and Set CABLE Input as your Default Playback device. Verify that you now have these three additional Playback Devices:

    • CABLE Output
    • VoiceMeeter Aux Output
    • VoiceMeeter Output

    1. Go to the Recording tab and Set CABLE Output as your Default Recording device. Verify that you now have these three additional Recording Devices:

    • CABLE Output
    • VoiceMeeter Aux Output
    • VoiceMeeter Output

    In Audacity (Preferences>Settings>Devices):

    • Host: MME
    • Playback Device: VoiceMeeter Input (VB-Audio Voi
    • Recording Device: VoiceMeeter Output (VB-Audio Vo
    • Channels: 2 (Stereo)

Open Voice Meeter Banana (use the Search box next to the Start button) and change these settings:

    • HARDWARE INPUT 1: MME: CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual
    • HARDWARE INPUT 2: MME: Set it to your desired microphone. I used Microphone Logitech G933 Gaming). For this hardware input, select A1 to deselect it. Otherwise, you will hear your voice playing through your Speakers/Headset.
    • HARDWARE OUT: Click A1 and select MME: <your output device>. In my case, MME: Speakers (Logitech G933 Gaming)

To test: Go to Youtube, find a video to play. Go to Audacity. Click Record, then go back to your YouTube video and click play. You should see the sound meter go up and down, in accordance to the track you're playing. Additionally if you speak, you will see your mic's meter rise and fall, as well. Stop the recording when finished. Note that to hear the newly recorded track's audio, you may have to change your Playback sound to your desired device. It i also important to note to reset your Playback device once exiting VoiceMeeter Banana, to your desired audio output device. This can be done by selecting the sound button on your System Tray.
