Windows 10: PC randomly freezes and only turns back on if I restart it through the power button

    PC randomly freezes and only turns back on if I restart it through the power button


    My new PC crashes and I can’t control anything when it freezes, this happens randomly even when not playing games or audio. If there is audio playing it makes a loud buzzing noise. I can’t do anything when it freezes expect turn it off and on from the power button. I’ll sometimes get a BSOD but usually it’s just frozen in place. I’ve tried running memtests, trying one RAM stick at a time, reinstalling drivers, resetting the BIOS. Any ideas?

    Windows 10 freezes randomly


    I had already tried turning off fast startup, to no avail.
    Will look at the list you provided, thanks. Hard to do when computer freezes on the Windows loading screen though. *Biggrin
    I had tried that as well... no result.

    Pc randomly freezing, have to hold PWR restart

    Hi,

    My pc is starting to randomly freeze, I am unable to move mouse, CTRK + ALT + DEL or anything

    I have to hold the power button down and restart the PC

    Can anyone please help me figure out what is going on, I assume it may be a driver or something

    Complete Freeze - Kernel-Power, Event ID 41, Task 63

    Managed to solve this.

    Seems like I had a couple issues. The power supply was on the fritz and C-States needed to be turned off in the bios.

    I went through all the steps listed on this thread by @mileskb
    Windows 10 freezes randomly

    I did change some of the power management settings in windows, but I had tried that before without results. It might have been a combination of C-States and power management.
