    PC randomly freezes and shuts down after a minute or so


    So, a couple of days ago my GTX 770 (it WAS 7 years old) stopped working, and tech help informed me that it fried. Great timing. So I went out and got my self a GTX 1650 (Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 4G, 4GB GDDR6, DP, HDMI). I installed it fine, booted my pc up without a problem, spent several hours just backing my files and music up, and decided to reinstall my Windows as well (haven't done that in 7 years). It all worked perfectly, and my W7 became W10Pro.

    After getting all the drivers and basic software onto my PC, it just froze: no black screen, no BSoD, no shut down, just completely frozen, only a hard reset helps.

    I've ran all basic diagnostic tools, rechecked all the drivers, no idea what is causing this. In the last 5 hours it happened 4 times, all 4 times the heaviest thing running was youtube on Chrome.

    Temp and Walt usage seem to be within norm as well, and the fact that the 3 or so hours spent backing up and sorting stuff on W7 didn't cause any problems leads me to think this may be W10 related. Any ideas?

    An interesting note: whenever I have to reset my pc this way, my NumLock turns off, even though even PSU problems I had a year ago (PSU fried, I replaced it with a more powerful one) didn't do THAT.

    Windows 10 freezes randomly


    I had already tried turning off fast startup, to no avail.
    Will look at the list you provided, thanks. Hard to do when computer freezes on the Windows loading screen though. *Biggrin
    I had tried that as well... no result.

    Windows Folders Randomly Freezing and Not Responding

    Once in a while, some of my windows folders, irrespective of the number of files and their size randomly freezes, then shows not responding and shuts down.

    When i try and open them again they do the same. over and over.

    the only solutions I have found to overcome this is.

    1. Restart the System.
    2. Remove a few items from the folder.
    3. Change the Sort by/Group by Format of the folder.

    Can anyone suggest what may be the source of the problem; and any solutions ?
