Windows 10: PC Randomly Restarted And Showing Signs Of Ram Issues Even Though I Just Replaced Faulty Ram.

This ram was working fine when i built it, running at 4800mhz and 32gb detected with the rgb on the ram lighting up in sync. The day i buit it I had enabled xmp on that ram and the PC didn't boot xmp 6400. So i set the dram frequency to 6200 and that seemed to work. PC Randomly Restarting after installing new Ram!

Tried your suggestions, but still had a restart! Also ran memtest overnight (13 hours according to memtest) and had no errors! Also ran Passmark Burn in test for a couple hours testing everything and had no errors or restart. Could fitting the new ram have triggered something to go bad like my mobo or psu?

 

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

Hi There,

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

• I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
• physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it

Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

Question about faulty ram

My laptop has been freezing randomly lately and I've been trying to find the cause of the freezes. I've ran HP diagnostics a few times and one test came back as:


But the all the other times It passed and I also ran memtest last night which showed 0 errors? Can a RAM stick/slot be faulty but still pass the tests?
