PC recognizes speakers and headphones as same device

    Hi there,

It's been a while I've got this issue and never wanted to go through it until today. The problem is that my audio keeps playing from one device at time. I've got my speakers plugged rear jack+USB in and headphones front jack as well. Windows recognizes them as one unique device. On my old PC it used to play two different application sounds on different devices, which was very useful. Any idea how to get this sorted out?

Tried reinstalling realtek drivers but nothing happens..

  2. Headphones recognized as Speakers...

    Hi Ahri,

Having your headphones recognized as speaker when plugged in at the back of your PC could be the reason why the audio is low. To help us isolate the problem, we suggest running first the audio troubleshooter from the link Fix
    sound problems
    .

In case the issue persists, then let's remap or retask your Realtek audio jack and see if it addresses the issue. To do that, follow the steps below:

    • Open the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
    • In the back panel, right click the option where your headphone is connected.
    • Choose the option Connector Retasking, then select Headphone.

Feel free to update us with the result so we can further assist you.

    Regards.

    Headphones recognized as Speakers...

In that case, please verify if your headphone is set as the Default Communication Device. If it's set as the Default Devices, then let's make it as the Default Communication Device and see if this addresses the issue. Please follow the steps below:

    • Right-click the speaker icon on your System Tray, then click Sounds.
    • Click the Recording tab.
    • Right-click your headphone and set it as the Default Communication Device.
    • Click Apply, then OK.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards.
