Windows 10: PC Security Recommendation

A few security questions: 1. If I password protect a Word document can a hacker get to it?2. Can a hacker get to my computer when it's in sleep mode? 3. Do I need a "third party" password protection program or what do you recommend as "acceptable" security for my pc? I have a security suite provided by my isp. Thanks for your assistance.

That made me so facepalm. Some people have absolutely no clue. I hope they don't take you for granted with all this you're doing for them.

SonicWall is a good security product, so Mindweaver's suggestion sounds like a good one and should make for a rather bigger baby step. Let's hope they take it.

 

PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval

• Install system in case
  • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
• Turn on PC
• setup HDD
• run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
  • run realtemp at the same time

• While in Prime95 test
  • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
  • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
  • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!

What do you guys think??

If you'd like to disable the "Actions recommended" notification, we suggest that you try the these steps:

• On the Search bar, type Task Manager.
• Open the Task Manager and go to the Startup
  tab.
• Locate Windows Defender notification icon and disable it.
• Once you are done, restart your PC check if the notification will still appear.
