Windows 10: PC shuts off immediately

This just started today, but as soon as I try to power on my PC, it shuts back off. Sometimes it'll stay on long enough for me to try to reset it, but during the reset it shuts off. I've tried cleaning the fan and checking the wiring. I don't know what's wrong.

PC shuts-down immediately when disconnected from power

It is extremely unlikely that this has anything to do with the update. You can easily find out like so:

• Boot into the BIOS setup mode. This mode is completely independent of Windows and is not affected by updates.
• Pull the plug. You will find that the machine shuts down immediately.

You probably need to replace the battery.

 

PC will not shut down, just restarts

I have just tried all you suggested and it's still the same.

Click shutdown the machine shuts down and immediately restarts.

I can shut the pc down, by holding the power button on the tower until it stops.

2. What is the KB number of the installed cumulative update?

You may follow the below steps to find the KB number of the update.

1. Press "Windows" + "R", Type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter.

2. Click on the “View installed updates” from the navigation pane.

You may follow the below methods and check.

Method 1: Unplug all external devices like flash drive, printer, scanner etc., (except mouse and keyboard) connected to the PC and restart the system to check if you face the same issue.

Method 2: If the issue still persist, I suggest you to run Startup repair from Advance boot option.

It may ask you to insert the Installation DVD/USB while doing startup repair.

If you don’t have an installation media, you have to create an installation media for that.

Once your media is ready follow the steps.

  After you boot your computer using Windows 10 CD/ DVD or System Repair Disc, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.

  Click on Repair your computer in the lower left corner.

  Select Troubleshoot from Choose an option screen.

  Click on Advanced options in Troubleshoot screen.

  Next, choose the operating system by clicking on its button.
  
• 
  Windows 10 will look for problems on hard drive(s) and verify that all required files are intact.
