Windows 10: PC slow with 100% harddisk usage

Hi guys,

since a few days, my Toshiba laptop continuously shows 100% HDD usage. Windows Task Manager claims only around 5% would be in use, but the HDD is working without interruption.

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-1DN and the harddrive is a Toshiba MQ01ABF050. There is more than enough free space on the drive. The system is running Windows 10 1803.

What I have tried so far

I tried waiting for several hours hoping that time would solve the problem, but the symptoms do not go away - the HDD still is working without end.

It even is busy when I restart the PC, even in the moment the boot screen is on. Also in safe mode it is always working.

I had a look into PC Health Monitor, the tool which Toshiba is offering to check the PC. All it says is that the HDD would be "good". The tool does not offer more information.

I also checked with the WMIC command "diskdrive get status" and it returns "Ok".

What can I do to get the PC work normally fast again?

anniversary update cause harddisk 100% usage

Hi, Sir

After windows10 anniversary update, my pc would pause randomly due to harddisk 100% usage,

few second later back to normal, and I never have this kind of problem before anniversary update,

any ways to fix the problem ? Thanks in advance.

From the screenshot that you have provided, I understood that it’s not the issue with the disk usage. The slowness might be due to the memory usage.
