Windows 10: PC sometimes freezes when going to sleep fans still running, not possible to wake

This is a desktop PC with latest Windows 10.When I put the PC to sleep, the monitors turns off, and the fans run louder for about 10 seconds while dumping RAM for hibernate I guess before it freezes.Screens are off, but the lights on the motherboard are on and the fans runs like in idle. But it's no longer responsive. Pressing the keyboard or mouse will not wake it again. Neither will power button. Only possiblilty is to hold the power button, to shut it off and then restart. The weird thing is that it only happens about 1 of every 10 times I put it to sleep. In other words, most of the time

Fans Run after sleep mode

Hi, is it normal in Windows 10 for a laptop fan to still run after putting the device to sleep?

This is using the power button or sleep button from the start menu.

This is on a Dell 5520 and an XPS 7390, does anyone happen to know?

Also is it possible to see what could possibly be waking a laptop up from sleep?

wake from sleep issue in windows 10

I suggest you to check which devices are configured to wake up the computer from sleep by following the steps below:

• Right click on Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the command line below:

Powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

3. Check if the devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet cable) are listed.

If the system is not going to sleep and going to Hybernate, the only option to wake up is to press the Power button.
