PC start freezing after sleep resume on random

Greetings,

I have a desktop PC that I did a clean Win10 Pro install on. Installation is up to date with all drivers. I have been using it for a few months with this new installation and I have noticed the following problem will happen at random only after the computer has gone to sleep and been resumed a few times (perhaps like 3 or 4):

After resuming sleep at random the explorer will stop responding when accessing secondary drives. I have 3 hard drives on my system, and when this problem happens I will try to open a file or access the drive through windows explorer but nothing happens except long loading time. Trying to click cancel on the load or navigating to another drive link through that same explorer window causes the window to become unresponsive.

Opening a new explorer window to navigate somewhere else works fine temporarily. But then I notice any programs/apps that are installed on the secondary drives stop responding and eventually the system will completely become unresponsive.

I think this is an issue with the whole hotswap system introduced in win 10. Because this kind of problem never happens if I don't put the computer to sleep. Also hibernation is disabled on this system.

:)

Windows 10 Creators Update video issue

Another observation:

Previously, the display stopped responding only when I used my keyboard or mouse to resume the monitor from sleep (the PC is not set to sleep or hibernate). Note that this was still completely random (to me, at least).

I checked Device Manager this morning and there's an entry overnight for the display not responding, so now the display not responding even when I'm not resuming the monitor from sleep.

Freezing and random booting problems on Windows 10

Old title: Freezing and random booting

Hello community,

I have a combination of problems running on my new desktop with clean install of windows 10. The problem starts when i want to shut down my computer into sleep mode. Sometimes it imidiately starts up again and freezes when i pull up my image. I can move
the mouse but i cant type and cant click buttons or pass form. If it does go to sleep it random starts in the middle of the night. If it manages to stay in sleep mode and i start it up manualy i can just normaly startup. Since i hooked up the account to my
new desktop my old laptop wich was running perfect has the same problem of starting up in the middle of the night, and sometimes during daytime when i start my pc wich is scary. Can some plz help me fix this or at least the startup problem. Btw i already checked
cmd with pwrconfig and all devices ar not alowed to start the pc also updatecenter is not alowed to start the pc.

PC start freezing after sleep resume on random

Welcome aboard.

Hibernation is disabled, and all of it is happening in sleep only? That sounds sort of odd.

Please let us have a look at your system. Upload your system Information file here: System Information File - Create in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

If needed, we may ask for some other data and information as well.

Hi Arc, sorry for the late reply. I have been busy with work and did not get a chance to get on this machine again since my last post. I have attached my system data.

Your motherboard does not support windows 10 natively.

Please let us know how you have got the drivers? Off the driver CD, or via windows update?

The motherboard has ....
The gray SATA 6 GB/s ports are Marvell ports, The Blue SATA ports are Intel, and Black ports are JMicron.

I see you have both the AHCI mode and IDE mode drivers installed. That may be the possible cause of the issue.

You have 3 disks in total. Connect all them to the BLUE SATA 3GBPS ports. See how it goes. Let us know.

Hi Arc,

My computer has 3 physical hard drives. They are all connected to three of the SATA1-6 ports (blue). I believe at some point I was trying to get this external HDD enclosure to work via IEEE 1394a port (firewire?) but was unsuccessful to get the device recognized via the firewire port. Almost all the motherboard drivers came from windows update since at the time when I did the clean install there wasn't much listed under windows 10 for this board on the asus website. I checked again now and my board doesn't even have win10 listed under os options in the support section downloads. They have windows 8 but in that category there is only bios downloads.

Hi xcagl3x.

Windows update should not install the drivers for the devices which are not in use. At this point, I am not seeing a reason behind both the AHCI and IDE mode drivers got installed.

The IEEE 1394a port is VIA 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller. It was enabled by a microsoft provided driver (ehstortcgdrv, that supports supporting IEEE 1667 storage devices; most probably that is why your device was not recognized). which is nicely disable now.
But both pciide (IDE mode storage controller) and storahci (AHCI mode storag controller) are active and loading at boot.
Code: pciide pciide c:\windows\system32\drivers\pciide.sys Kernel Driver Yes Boot Running OK Critical No Yes storahci Microsoft Standard SATA AHCI Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\storahci.sys Kernel Driver Yes Boot Running OK Critical No Yes
As per your description of disk setup, only one of them should be there. Both of these two storage controller should not be activated at once. So there is some faults in windows installation.
** Do the things written below for now. Later, depending on the need, we will pay attention to this one.

At the same time, you have 12 GB RAM. The Specs says it is Vengeance. Now, Corsair says they make 12 GB kits for triple channel; whereas your motherboard is having dual channel memory hitecture only.
If the 3 RAM sticks came as a single KIT, remove either RAM stick. If you added any RAM stick later, remove that one. Let it run as simple dual channel, one slot per channel. 8 GB will be more than enough, even if you do 3D rendering.

Take care of three things ....
Code: c:\program files\logitech gaming software\drivers\lgcoretemp\lgcoretemp.sys
IMHO you need to uninstall it. It somehow adds up to the issue, I am not sure how.
Code: c:\program files\nvidia corporation\nvstreamsrv\nvstreamkms.sys
About it, it should not be there because it is widely problematic. Do a celan install of the display driver. While installing the display driver, follow this method: NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems - Windows 7 Help Forums
Code: e:\downloads\realtemp_370\winring0x64.sys
Well, I was not aware of winring0x64. So I sehed in google for it. All are saying one thing about it ...

• winring0x64.sys is usually located in the 'c:\windows\syswow64\drivers\' folder. Source
• WinRing0x64.sys is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files" or sometimes in a subfolder of the user's profile folder. Source
Now, it is running from a different location. A driver is loading and running form an unusual location, that is a strong indication of a malware infection.
As it happened despite of Kaspersky present there, do an in-depth virus scan. Windows Defender Offline Scan in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

And, Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto-start with it; but they can conflict which may cause various issues including randm crashes including BSODs.

• Right click on the taskbar and click on "Task Manager" in the context menu.
• It will open Task Manager with "Processes" tab selected. Click on the "Startup" tab.
• Select them all one by one and click "Disable" at the bottom right corner.
• Disable everything there other than the antivirus.

See how it all goes. Let us know.
