Windows 10: PC starts opening programs very slowly after some time

Hey, Since a couple weeks ago my laptop is acting very weird, after running for some time it starts to open programs very slowly, like very very slowly, a couple minutes slowly, also restart/shutdown/sleep options in start menu don't work, Ctr-Alt-Del also takes a couple minutes to react, virtual pulpits work but only with touchpad gestures. Programs that were opened before the continue to work normally but they can't open another programs e.g. game launcher can't launch game. After some time like this PC freezes completely and is totally unresponsive until force restart after witch it work

Please give steps to open the paths to Program Files

If you want to open File Explorer to your C: drive without any registry tweaks, you'll need to do so from a shortcut you create.

1. Open File Explorer to This PC.
2. Right-click Winndows (C and select Create Shortcut:

Windows starts up fast but programs are launching slowly

hello!

I got an issue with Windows 10. OS itself is very responsible, starts in seconds and UWP apps are launching instantly. However any usual programs start up very slowly, it’s ranging from 30 seconds to couple of minutes. Also windows shuts down very slowly
- when I click “shut down” it does nothing for minutes, then it goes to shutdown screen for couple of seconds and turns off display, yet PC is’t off at this point and I need to wait for like 10 minutes for it to shut down. It might be related,since both started
happening after 1803 update, I think. It seems like PC can’t access drive or ram and wait for it, because when programs actually start - there is zero issues. It just seems like PC waits, since there is zero performance hit between when I click and progran
launches up - it doesn’t shows in task manager, so it’s not like the program is slowly loading, they just don’t start.

 

Adding programs to "open with" menu?

Hi TK, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

You should be able to add a program in Open With if you're able to open the file with that app. Here are the steps:

- Right-click on any .stl file

- Hover on Open with > Choose another app

- Once the list of apps opens, scroll down and click More apps

- Scroll down again then click Look for another app on this PC

- Locate and choose the program

- Once the file has been opened by the app, close it and check if the app is now on the Open with list

- To locate the program, it would be easier to right-click on the app in the Start menu > More > Open file location.

- Once the File Explorer opens the list of Start menu programs, right-click on the shortcut of the app then click on 'Open file location' once again.
