Windows 10: PC suddenly slow, need a solution

So I was recently gone at work and came back to my PC running incredibly slow. So slow it barely is able to run the start up program processes like steam activation etc. I was trying to transfer video from an SD card that I’ve viewed video from and suddenly was unable to open them, with a codec error.


I also recieved a pop up telling me to activate my copy of windows and have the “Windows 10 Home” watermark in the corner.


I have a yellow dot telling me I have an update that needs addressed. I tried installing and it was stuck at 0%.

So a few things first:


My copy of windows is genuine, but I can’t even open Settings to try to troubleshoot


Windows is so slow that task manager or settings either wont open, or go unresponsive when they do


I can not update any program drivers because windows is too slow to use


My disc and memory usage are maxed out when I open task manager


So please, I need solutions. But I absolutely CANNOT open settings, task manager or command prompt. NOTHING is opening because it is so sluggish, and they go unresponsive when they do open.

PC won't boot up suddenly

I was hoping that by now someone on this forum could recommend some steps i can take to repair my desktop pc. I outlined the problem and steps i have taken so far. I still havent found the reason for the problem or figured out a solution. I guess no one can offer me any additional suggestions to help. Thanks anyway.

 

PC slow and not responding

To assist you with your concern, we suggest you to run the System Maintenance Troubleshooter to check and see why your PC is running slow and unresponsive. Here are the steps:

• Press Windows Key + X.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Select Troubleshooting. If you cant find the option, click View By and select Large Icons.
• On the left pane, click on View All.
• Click on System Maintenance to run the troubleshooter.
