    PROBLEM: Can't output HDMI audio from PC to AVR without a display associated with that audio. I call this display the "phantom display" because it is being output to a screen that is not being used. ex TV Input1= 4k60 from GPU directly to 4kTV TV Input2= 4k30 from GPU to AVR to 4kTV where Input2 is only used to send HDMI audio to the AVR, and will not be seen, since Input1 of TV will be used instead. SOLUTION: eARC, or an AVR that outputs video at the desired resolution and refresh rate. HOWEVER, I imagine that there are many people like me, who have older 4kTVs without eARC, an

    why wont you let us use AVR recevers without windows seeing them as a display?

    IT IS NOT A DISPLAY!!! IT IS A AVR, AN AUDIO VIDEO RECEVER FOR HOME THEATERS!!! I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SEND AUDIO FROM MY GPU TO MY AVR WITH AN HDMI CABLE WITHOUT WINDOWS THINKING THAT MY AVR IS A DISPLAY!!!!!!!

    If Passthrough is enabled, it will see just the TV. https://www.sony.com/electronics/sup...icles/00021373

    I would suggest editing your original post with the how everything is connected (ie TV to AVR HDMI Out, AVR input from PC). Then state hardware in bullet point. Then troubleshooting. It makes it easier to read. Suggest going through the Setup steps on your AVR also. https://www.sony.com/electronics/sup.../45373541M.pdf Also suggest to reinstall the drivers for your GPU.

    Dolby via HDMI ARC

    Hi,

    this is my scenario:

    PC with nvidia 3080
    AVR Denon X1500H
    TV 4k120hz

    My AVR doesn't support 4k120hz, so I connected the PC to the TV.
    TV and the AVR have both HDMI ARC, if I use internal TV Netflix app, i got audio 5.1 via ARC.

    How can I use a dolby audio from the PC to the AVR?
    Now i use an spidf, but i've only compressed audio 5.1.
    ARC doesn't work (PC see only audio 2.0 on TV)
    The only way that I found is to connect PC to the AVR via HDMI on the onboard HDMI, and PC-TV via Nvidia, but i've to set duplicate monitor...is there any way to force only audio via hdmi without an external HW Audio Extractor?
