  1. PC to TV via HDMI Cord

I'm trying to stream video on my TV from my computer using an HDMI cord. Both have an HDMI port. The TV is the HDMI2 port. I've done everything suggested on the web to get his to work. I do have 2 display ports/cards because I use 3 monitors. I thought that might be an issue so I disabled one of them and had only one monitor/card running. Still the computer will not acknowledge the TV being connected. So, I tried a VGA cord from the computer to the TV. Still the computer does not recognize the TV. I've changed resolution, tried powering up in different order, trying all the options with SHIFT+P. Still no luck. I'm going to go and get a new HDMI cable today, maybe the one I have is bad. Any ideas? I've tried most of them that are on the web.

    Thanks!

    M!

    :)

Ciao, you should connect pc-tv via HDMI cord. Then you should find something like a "source" button on your TV remote (I could be more precise if you share TV brand and model) and click it until it moves on HDMI input. Please let us know if this works.
    Ciao Ugo

ASFAIK.....when streaming from PC to TV, you need a streaming device to do that. Something like a Roku box.

  5. I should be able to stream on my PC and show it on my TV with an HDMI cord....isn't that correct? In any case, my issue is the computer recognizing the TV using an HDMI cord. Any help will be appreciated.

  6. Sorry I didn't see this sooner ... but you are correct, in that you are streaming TO your PC and then displaying on the TV.

I do this all the time, so I know it can be done, and I use an HDMI cable between the laptop port and the TV port -- which in the case of the TV, is HDMI2.

On the PC running Win10, check the Action Center and confirm that Project is set to Duplicate.

In my case, Win10 sees both displays as one -- and that may be critical to it working.

I did have to mess around with the Audio settings to have the audion on the TV used, instead of the audio on the laptop.

Also, if either of the monitors is able to connect using HDMI, I would connect that as the second monitor to confirm that you are getting at least video out of the HDMI port.

I recommend you go wireless and buy a chromecast. It works brilliantly, and works upon just about any tv with an hdmi slot, and Windows 7 onwards, or from android tablets, phones as well.

If streaming from pc, you can even use mobile phone or tablet as a remote control.

PC to TV via HDMI Cord

I am following your thread hoping you will come up with a solution because I have a similar but NOT exactly the same problem. Solution to your case might give me an insight on what I should do.
Forgive me if I appear hijacking your thread. Here is my problem, maybe you can help me out........

My TV (not a smart TV) has 2 hdmi ports.
I use one for my Roku, and the other one for my laptops and tablets.
HDMI connection to my laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium works (using hdmi to hdmi tv cable).
HDMI connection to my Surface tablet running Windows 8.1 RT works ( using the micro hdmi to hdmi tv cable )

HDMI connection to my laptop running Windows 10 Pro version 1703, build 15063.674 fails....... error message : no signal.

I have 2 hdmi to hdmi tv cables. They both fail on my Win 10 laptop.
I did try switching to the other hdmi port on my tv. Results same as above.

Adding : I have a Surface Pro1 running Win 10 Pro, but it does not have a micro hdmi port. So, I don't know if it will work with the hdmi connection.

  9. No problem with the Hijack! LOL! We're all in this together! I did solve my problem. After reading up on HDMI and going to Sanyo website for support, I found out my TV HDMI was HDMI DVI. There is a difference. My HDMI port on my PC tower was only straight HDMI. So, I went and got a splitter for my monitor connection and an HDMI DVI adapter. So the PC to the splitter then one of the split wires to the HDMI DVI adapter to the HDMI cord to the TV. I'm kind of shocked that there wasn't more information on this...but, I'm working like a charm now. Maybe this can work for you or at least put you on the right path. Thanks for your reply!

    Congrats. Your problem is resolved.

Mine is a little different in that the same hdmi port on tv works with Win 7 laptop but not with Win 10 laptop.

Unfortunately it does not solve the issue. I'll continue to look for a solution.
    I appreciate your help.
    Thank you.
