    PC tries to automatically repair itself but fails.


    My PC has tried to automatically repair itself, but fails. I have tried everything: restore points; exit & continue to Windows 10; turning PC off; troubleshooting advanced options. The only thing I haven't tried is Command Prompt, but I don't know what to type in. Can anybody help me with this?

    Critical Service Failed - Automatic Repair and Advanced Options


    Update:
    Tried the Repair disk. Still back to "Your pc ran into a problem", "Preparing automatic repair" followed by Advanced Options which have been tried again.

    Would anyone recommend:
    • bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
    • bootrec.exe /fixmbr
    • bootrec.exe /fixboot

    Otherwise, I have a bootable Win PE file waiting to be burned on to USB key, as suggested by other Forum user, but unsure what to do with it when (or if) it boots up the laptop.

    Hi,

    This issue might have occurred due to corrupted system files that are not letting the operating system to perform repair and boot to the desktop.

    We would like to know some information:

    • Have you tried booting in
      Safe Mode      ? If not, we suggest that you try it. Check this article for information.
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far? We need to know it for us to know what other troubleshooting steps to give.

    PC tries to automatically repair itself but fails.

    Windows 8 Acer will not factory restart or refresh. Fails automatic repair.

    I have a Windows 8 Acer, I was trying to factory reset it. It failed the reset and also failed the automatic repair. It says Log File: C:\system32\logfiles\srt\SrtTrail.txt after failing. I tried the following in command prompt as I've seen it suggested
    and it didn't solve anything.

    • bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
    • bootrec.exe /fixmbr
    • bootrec.exe /fixboot
