PC trying to install update that is already installed...

I'm having problems with (automatic) updates. The update status says "an update is being prepared for your device, but it's not quite ready yet. Retry". The update in question is 2018-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4103727). The problem is that this update has already been installed!!

I keep clicking on 'Retry', but then the PC just checks for updates, finds KB4103727, starts inizializing, then goes back to the Retry button. A vicious circle.

I've tried uninstalling the update so that I can download and install it again, hoping that this will fix the problem. But I can't seem to uninstall it. I'm also having problems with Windows apps (live tiles) not working, and feel that this is also related to unsuccessful updates.

Any ideas as to what I could try? I've seen that some users have installed version 1803? Should I try downloading and installing it? Do you think that could solve my problems?

    :)

  2. another installation is already in progress

    Hi,

I am sorry to know that you are unable to install AVG.

Wait for some time, if the installation of updates is going on in the background.

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

    • Type CMD in Search. Right click on it to run as an administrator.
    • Type the following 4 commands at the Command prompt:
    WSReset.exe.

    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    sfc /scannow

    powershell

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    • Close the CMD window.
    • Check to see if the issue is resolved. If not, restart the PC.
If the issue persists, then you need to check with AVG.
