okay then. Monitor and cable eliminated.

That leaves mobo, cpu, ram and psu.

Yes, by all means, try the ram and psu on your system. But if they don't work then you won't be able to eliminate anything and will need to take your parts elsewhere to check if they are functioning correctly.

Edit: Given that this problem originally started with blue screens before you changed the offset, it would be good to check your cpu and cpu socket if you decide to remove for testing. You could inspect them to make there is nothing like any bent pins or whatever

Its being blue screening for a long time with the same error (WHEA_uncorrectable_error), Just this time I thought I would try to fix it.

And I already took the CPU out and put it back in, No bent pins.

I went into my BIOS, Changed OC Tuner to X.M.P because I noticed my RAM was only running at 1600Mhz, So I enabled that, selected 1866Mhz, Then I changed the CPU Mode offset from positive to negative, saved and exited and now its not working.
This issue only came after I changed that setting and saved and exited.

Ill try the PSU and RAM now.

So I took my motherboard and CPU to my brothers. I tested my i5 3470 in his motherboard with 1 stick of my RAM and the Monitor came on and loaded the windows 10 logo, I didn't put the CPU fan on though as I just wanted to test it for 10~ seconds.

I then tested his i5 2500K in my motherboard with 1 stick of my RAM no CPU fan, And the monitor didn't come on but the PC turned on.

So is it safe to say my motherboard is the issue? I just tested my CPU in his motherboard to make sure my CPU wasnt broke aswell.

I have looked on Amazon for motherboards with socket 1155 and there isnt many in stock, or they will be dispatched within 5-6 days, I can't wait that long so I found one on ebuyer.

It only supports 2 sticks of RAM but I think I will buy this one just to use now then I will upgrade to an i7 and a different motherboard later on.

This is the one im looking at buying from ebuyer, What do you think?

Asrock H61 Pro BTC Socket 1155 VGA HDMI 5.1 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard - Ebuyer

I know it only supports 2 sticks of RAM but I can put the other 2 away till I upgrade to an i7 and a different motherboard.

Will this one be around the same size as my p8z77v lx, I just need to make sure my h80i cooler will fit on it, Also will windows 10 work on it?

    Thank you.

PC turns on, No signal, keyboard/mouse.

    You might look here:

Computer Hardware, Computer Components, Motherboards, Intel Motherboards, LGA 1155, 4240pin - Newegg.com

    This one:

    ASRock Z75 Pro3 LGA 1155 Intel Z75 HDMI SATA 6Gbs USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - Newegg.com

has 4 DIMM slots, and Asrock seems to support it for Windows 10. It's also a full-sized ATX board, the same size as your current Asus board.

Asrock began as a bargain brand, but they have been moving into the same market space as Asus recently. I have been happy with the X99 board I have from them, and I find its BIOS (UEFI) easy to work with.

Yes, that would indicate it is your motherboard that has gone to the big techno grave in the sky. It is no more....

As far as your ebuyer mobo is concerned. There is a problem. From your first post you were playing around with your offsets, which indicates you may have been trying some overclocking of some sorts. But regardless of that, you are making changes to voltages on a budget board which doesn't excel in the power phase area. That will also be the case with the ASRock. Doing that kind of stuff makes budget boards fail. So you need to decide how you want to use the board and then decide upon and set your budget accordingly.

As far as having your things fitting on the board, all you need is an ATX form factor board as then it is a like-for-like replacement. Your old board is ATX

    Important:
As far as Windows 10 goes, what type of license do you have? I mean for the rig that the Asus board just failed on.

Please state your budget in GBP (I am assuming you are in the UK), then @bobkn, I and others can make the suggestions that fit your needs and budget.

If it is in your budget, and you intend to be tweaking a few bits and pieces, then I would recommend something like

    Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H

Unfortunately, it is double the price of the model you chosen from Ebuyer as would cost £100 inc delivery

Edit: That is just an example above. You could also get a good quality board from ebay that would keep in your budget

Yes I just want a cheap one for 2-3 weeks, I think I will get a different motherboard and CPU by then which isnt socket 1155.

1155 seems to be outdated. Not many products for it anymore I see.

My motherboard will arrive tommorow hopefully and I will let you know if it works.

Thank you for your help by the way.

PC turns on, No signal, keyboard/mouse.

Got the motherboard now and its working fine. So I must have broken the other motherboard some how by changing that setting.

I will upgrade to an i7 and an Asus Maximus VII Ranger/Extreme/Hero

Thank you so much for your help, Even though I didn't get the problem solved you still tried *Smile.

    Thanks WhyMe.

    Nice result for you. *Smile

Yup. Those Asus Z97s you listed are very good, solid boards. They can take about anything you can throw at them. You'll be able to tweak and overclock 'til your heart's content if you get one of them.

I doubt that you broke the board just by playing with that setting. You'll never know.

If you're getting a new CPU and board, and don't mind buying DDR4 RAM as well, get a Socket 1151 board. That will delay obsolescence for it by a few months.*Wink

Best of luck. Keep in mind, if you choose to overclock, using offset can pay dividends in overclocking while reducing heat, however (as you undoubtedly learnt), if the existing offset is reasonably large, switching from positive to negative or vice a versa can make a massive difference in voltages across the board. I doubt if it directly screwed up your board, but might have been the straw that broke the camel's back.
