Windows 10: PC unable to boot without previous SSD plugged in

Hi,Before I go into the problem, a little back story:I was previously running Windows 11 on my Evo 860 SSD we shall refer to as SSD A. I then installed a new Evo 970 SSD we shall refer to as SSD B and installed Windows 11 as a fresh install through a USB boot drive. Since then I have always had to go through a blue boot menu to select Volume 2 SSD B or Volume 6 SSD A. Since I have moved to SSD B, I always select Volume 2, but kept SSD A plugged in as I needed some files from there from time to time.I recently migrated to a new Case and GPU and thus decided to use this opportunity to re

Unable to boot Windows after cloning it to SSD

I understand that you are facing issues while booting the PC after cloning Windows to new SSD. I would like to know what happens when you try to boot the PC to desktop using SSD?



The reason you are not able to boot the PC is that the files required to boot Windows are still recognizing the HDD as the main drive. I would suggest you to try rebuilding the BCD files and see if you are able to boot the PC using
SSD.



Kindly follow the steps below to rebuild the BCD.

1. Create a bootable media and boot the PC using the media.
2. On the Install Windows screen, select Next >
   Repair your computer.
3. On the System Recovery Options screen, select
   Troubleshoot> Advanced options > Command Prompt.
4. Now type in the commands and hit enter: BOOTREC /FIXMBR
   
   BOOTREC /FIXBOOT
   
   BOOTREC /scanos
   
   BOOTREC /rebuildbcd
5. Restart the PC.

If the issue persists, please get back to us with the results of the troubleshooting steps to assist you further.

Unable to boot the PC

We understand your concern as you are unable to boot the PC. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
• What is the make and model of the PC?

• 
  Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?
  

I would suggest you to export and delete the BCD store and rebuild the BCD store. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Create
   a bootable media and boot the PC using the media.
2. On
   the initial setup screen, select the language and other
   preferences and click on Next. (If you don't see the setup screen, your PC might not be set up to boot from a drive. Check your PC manufacturer's website for info on how to change your PC's boot order, and then try again.)
3. Now,
   click on Repair your computer.
4. On
   the System Recovery Options screen, select Troubleshoot>
   Advanced options > Command Prompt.
5. Now
   type in the commands and hit Enter:
   
   bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
   
   c:
   
   cd boot
   
   attrib bcd -s -h –r
   
   ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
   
   bootrec /RebuildBcd

upgrading to SSD and unable to boot into Windows10 (EFI hidden)

Hi,

I am unable to boot into windows 10 after completing the installation successfully. PC is HP Prodesk G3 small form factor (business PC)

All files are being written to the SSD but just can not boot. The disk is GPT and secure boot is enabled. I am unable to find an option for AHCI in bios so hope its set correctly.

Startup repair returns (couldnt repair your PC) > C:\windows\system32\logfiles\srttrail.txt

Disk Part shows a 100MB volume listed as FAT32 which is the EFI volume and I am guessing that becasue this volume is hidden the PC is unable to use boot manager? When attemptimg to boot afer install it does list UEFI: Windows Boot Manager , but only a black
screen after.

Would really appreciate assistance in sorting this as I am trying to upgrade.
