Windows 10: PC upgraded windows 8.1 to 10 not happening?

I have just upgraded pc and done a fresh install of windows.
Antec 1200 case. Cooler Master Hyper 212+ CPU cooler.
Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz RAM
Crucial SSD MX100 512 GB . 500 GB HDD. 1200W PSU.
Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 motherboard.
Skylake Core i7 6700K CPU .

I using the media creation tool x64 but with not much joy.
Windows 10 seems to download
It then says something about cleaning up..then just goes back to 8.1 with nothing else happening.
I keep updating 8.1.
Will I get the icon up with the queue for windows 10 upgrade again? This worked with my old system?
This is a joke my pc main components are brand new. Should be easy peasy.

Network Issue From windows 10 Nov upgrade

Network - From windows 10 can not see windows 8.1. I was able to my 4 computers from each other when I was running Windows 8.1. I was able to upgrade 3 of the pc to the original roll out of windows 10 and I could see my 8.1 pc on windows 10 and see my
windows 10 on my 8.1 pc. After applying the windows 10 November upgrade. My 8.1 pc can see my 3 windows 10 pc, but my 3 windows 10 pc can not see the windows 8.1. I can ping it. I can see it on a home group, but not from the Network.

 

Updating an 8.1 Pro Upgrade license to 10

I have a Windows 7 OEM PC and an 8.1 Pro Upgrade license purchased from the Microsoft store.

My understanding is that the 8.1 Pro Upgrade license is a retail version that can be moved to a new PC.

If I upgrade my Windows 7 PC to 8.1 Pro and then update to Windows 10, can I move the resulting Windows 10 Pro license to a new PC?

 

Download the Windows 10 ISO from here, delete your USB and use ISO to create it again.

 

Won't this method require a windows 10 key which I will not have?

 

No. You can use the ISO to upgrade your old Windows version to 10. This is done by starting the Setup from Windows. If you boot with the USB you cannot upgrade. You have to start Setup from previous Windows version. No key required in that case.

 

Does this mean I have to burn to a disk and boot as if I had windows 8 disc in?

 

No, you will burn to a disk and insert the disk with Windows 8 running like if you were going to play a movie or music from it. Then you open the disk in windows explorer and run setup.exe on the disk.

 

Yes. Open the disk from Windows Explorer and double-click on Setup to start.

 

You don't have to have the iso burnt to a DVD.
If you use the Media Creation Tool as you have mentioned, you should have the ISO file stored somewhere in your computer.
Right click at the iso file > click Mount > click Setup.exe.
Installation will begin.
You have the choice of keeping your files, settings and (most) apps, or keep nothing.
You will not be asked for product key as it is an upgrade installation over an existing qualified Windows OS, namely Win 8.1 in your case.
Activation will be automatic.

I am not sure, but you can mount the ISO (right-click and select Open with -> Windows Explorer) only in Windows 8 and 8.1 In Windows 7 you would have to use a third-party tool such as Daemon Tools Lite, but I wouldn't dare doing it and midway the upgrade Windows would not be able to read the files. I would rather copy all files to a folder in the hard disk and start setup from there to make sure.

 

Just want to point out these........( another member I tried to help make some of the mistakes listed below)
1. Make certain that when you downloaded the Media Creation Tool, you picked the correct bit-version.
2. Make sure you stick to the same language as your Win 8.1 is using. That member chose English (UK) while his computer is using English (United States).
3. Make sure you pick the right Win 10 version. (That member chose Win 10 Home while he has Win 7 Pro in his computer).

You are right.
Windows 7 does not have the option to do....... Mount the ISO and then click Setup.exe.
That feature started with Win 8.
The OP has Win 8.1.

 

Even in Windows 8 and 8.1, I would not trust mounting the ISO, just in case midway it cannot find the files. I would copy all files to a folder and start setup from there to be extra sure. Or I would burn to DVD.
