PC with Microsoft work account won't share on same network to PC with Home account

I have two Windows 10 Pro PCs on my wireless network at home. I set up Windows on the first a long time ago using my personal Microsoft account *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. I added the second PC lately. I set up Windows on the second PC up using my Microsoft work account *** Email address is removed for privacy ***.The second PC running the work account can see and pull files from the first PC. How to limit Windows Sharing to one PC on a network?

Unfortunately, without having a domain and DC using AD DS or similar, I don't believe you can do the shares how you see them on a home-grade network without simply using accounts and account authorization. You need to treat and view these local accounts as a workstation ID instead of an account logged into your computer like you are now. In that respect, this would make limited access quite easy. Give the user of that computer the ID and password to access your PC on the network and they'll have access to specific shares. You'll be a mini-network admin in no time! *Big Grin PC with Microsoft work account won't share on same network to PC with Home account :D

You can have access credentials saved on the PC accessing shares, reducing the need to login every time to access the share.

Another option would be to modify the share in Computer Management. Shared Folders > Shares.

Add a $ at the end of the share name to make it invisible, so you must know the location to access it. You will see examples of this as there are some default shares within Windows already setup this way.

With that you may still want to do as suggested above by newtekie1 with permissions and/or with local accounts to restrict access still so you can assign whom has access to that share.

Beyond that I don't believe there is a way to restrict via PC ID's, because each PC is its own identity, and none are registered to a central server like a domain controller, so using the PC name/ID as a network resource on your home network in the method you want isn't realistic. But if you can manage to accept and view extra created accounts (create them in Computer management too btw...then you have one window for creating and managing accounts and shares) as a PC ID, you'll be fine me thinks.

Got File Sharing to Work Using Microsoft Accounts

After pulling my hair out for hours, I finally had a breakthrough that solved the problem for me. We have 4 different brands of PCs, all recently upgraded to Windows 10 Home. Other than file sharing, I found the Windows 10 upgrades went smoothly. I have a Microsoft Account and my wife has a different Microsoft Account. She primarily uses 2 of the PCs and I generally use the other 2 so initially I didn't have both of us authorized to use all 4 PCs. We do however need to use file sharing across all 4. After Windows 10, sharing was completely hosed - some connections mysteriously worked and some didn't. First I turned off password protected sharing on all 4 PCs as other threads have mentioned (Network & Sharing Center / Advanced Sharing Settings / All Networks / Turn password protected sharing OFF). Then I made sure that all 4 PCs had IDENTICAL log on accounts. Each PC now has a LOCAL account called ADMIN with Administrator privileges AND 2 Microsoft Accounts (my MS account and my wife's MS account) without Administrator privileges. The key seems to be having IDENTICAL log ons authorized on each of the 4 PCs. As soon as I did it, all of the file sharing problems cleared up instantly. Important thing seems to be that all networked PCs must have the same accounts with the same user names and passwords (i.e. ADMIN log on identical on each PC, my MS Acct log on identical on each PC, and my wife's identical on each PC). This shouldn't be required, but for some reason it works. Hope this helps.
