  1. PC won't boot with AHCI mode enabled kinda

Since yesterday I've been having troubles booting up my machine after it has been turned off for quite while. This suddenly happened out of nowhere, I turned on my computer ready to boot, and suddenly it turned itself off before I got to the booting screen after a few seconds. The machine turned itself on again, but yet again it turned itself off after a few seconds. The third time it turned itself on I got a message that my BIOS had been reset, and that I needed to switch from AHCI and turn on the intel rapid storage technology instead in order to avoid further problems. I did change at first

    :)

  2. Is AHCI enabled?

    Hi Shumitra,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft community.

I understand your concern and will guide you in the right direction.

Windows uses AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) by default, but it may not be enabled if your BIOS wasn't set properly during installation of the operating system.

Follow the steps below to check if ACHI is enabled properly.

    a. Press Windows + X.

    b. Select Device manager.

    c. Click the arrow next to "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" to display the list of controller drivers currently used by your system.

    d. Check for an entry that contains the acronym "AHCI." If an entry exists, and there is no yellow exclamation mark or red "X" over it, then AHCI mode is properly enabled. If
you don't see an "AHCI" entry, or the only entry contains a red or yellow mark, then there's a problem and AHCI mode is not properly enabled.

Hope this information helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

  3. RAID vs AHCI mode

I had the same problem, back when I was running with single disks.
On my Win7 64 bit I had to disable AHCI when installing...afterwards I then could enable AHCI mode again and the OS was running fine...I don´t know what the course is....

A little note: RAID0 is faster than AHCI when running - BUT...the boot-up time on a RAID
system is much slower due to the RAID controllers initializing of the disks/arrays.

PC won't boot with AHCI mode enabled kinda

SATA optical drive becomes useless in AHCI mode?

I suggest after enabling AHCI, booting with the main drive ONLY, letting windows install the drives, reboot, plug in the other drives.
