Hi. My HP laptop was functioning okay up until today, when I tried switching it on. Before shutting off my computer, I had done a system update as well. The first thing to appear on my screen after switching on is the 'Choose an option' menu which gives 4 options in which, Continue and turn off PC does not make a difference. The advanced troubleshoot option requires me to log in to my windows microsoft account, which for some reason shows that my password is incorrect. I've tried all possible combinations and still can't get in. How do I get my PC to work? And is there an option to reset the w

    4870x2 won't display at 1680x1050 at all!

OK. Now I know what ur problem is. Step by step:
    1. Go to Catalyst Control Center
    2. Click on the word "Graphic" right on top left corner. It will display drop down menu
    3. Click on Display monitor and will see the list of monitor at near bottom
    4. Right Click the monitor and select "Configure". It will show up the window
    5. There will be 3 option to select. Select the middle one and then click on the tab which show the bar with 15%.
    6. Drag the bar to max, and the screen will stretch to the native resolution 1680x1050.
    7. Also click the tab with showing RGB drop down list and select the last one (it will change to image quality for pc).
    That's it. Good Luck.

Can I rearrange shutdown options in the Start menu and Login screen

The options via the Start menu and Login screen are (in order):

    • Sleep
    • Shutdown
    • Restart

I'd rather Shutdown be at the bottom to make it simpler to choose it.

    Choose an Option menu

    Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

As per the issue description you are unable to boot to the desktop screen and getting black screen while upgrading to Windows 10. If you get stuck while updating then I would suggest you to perform Automatic repair.

Step 1: Create ISO for Windows 10

You may also refer to the article mentioned below to for downloading Windows 10 on your computer.

    Download Windows 10

Step 2: Perform an Automatic repair

The Automatic repair can detect and fix the issues that prevent the computer from working normally.

After you have a Windows 10 installation disc/USB, follow these steps:

    • When your computer starts, wait for the manufacturer logo to check the option for boot menu, it will usually be F12.
    • The boot menu key might differ with each manufacturer. If you are unable to find the boot menu key, you may refer the user manual.
    • Restart the computer, when the manufacturer's logo is displayed, keep pressing the Boot menu option key to enter the boot menu and change the boot option to CD\DVD ROM (in case you create DVD). Select USB in case
      you create USB.
    • After you boot your computer using Windows DVD or System Repair Disc, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.
    • Select the correct time and Keyboard type.
    • Click Repair your computer in the lower left corner.
    • Click on Troubleshooting, advanced option and then click Startup Repair.

    Step 3

If automatic repair doesn’t help to repair the startup files, you may try to repair them using these commands through Command Prompt under Advance Options.

    Refer to the steps:

    a) After you boot your computer using
Windows 8 DVD or System Repair Disc, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.

    b) Select the correct time and Keyboard type.

    c) Click Repair your computer in the lower left corner.

    d) Select Troubleshoot from Choose an option
    screen.

    e) Click Advanced options in Troubleshoot screen.

    f) Click on
    command Prompt.

    g) Type these following commands and hit enter after each line of command:

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

    Bootrec /scanos

    Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Hope this would help. If issue still persists post back with current status of your computer and result of proposed suggestion, we will be happy to assist you.
