PCs no longer visible on Network after auto Windows Updates 10 Pro

I have 8 computers on a Network running MS Windows 10 Pro and all of them access a shared folder on a server computer. Now, 2 of the computers are no longer visible on the network after MS updated the computers during the night. The Windows Updates were:
    Update For Windows 10 V1607 KB3211320
Update for Adobe Flash Windows V10 1607
Feature Update for Windows 10 v1607

For example, using Windows File Explorer, I would click on "Network" and it would list all of the computers on our network. At that point I would click on the "Server" computer and a list of the folders that I have access to would be displayed. Now, the Server computer is no longer visible on the network using Windows File Explorer. I am confident that the culprit is Windows automatic update because this happened once before on another machine and the problem was resolved after I removed the MS updates.

Does can anyone suggest a solution to my problem which doesn't involve removing the updates? I am reluctant to remove the updates again because I know it is important to remain current and I am worried a subsequent update will cause a repeat of the problem. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    :)

Windows 10 Icon Missing After Windows 8.1 Update

My PC previously had Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with the Windows 10 Icon. I recently updated my Windows 7 to Windows 8 and then to Windows 8.1. After the update the Windows 10 icon is no longer visible? What happened? The whole reason I upgraded to
Windows 8.1 from Windows 7 was to get the free copy of Windows 10 Pro instead of Windows 10 Home. Any help would be much appreciated. For what it's worth, all copies of Windows are genuine.

    Hi hpup10

Were you using a homegroup to share information or were you logging on to "Server" ?

Can one of the machines that was not updated see the machines that were update in their network section? Your second paragraph describes what I think is looking out from one of the updated machines.

I would also power down router and then cycle back on. Not a likely fix but it has resolved sharing issues.

I would also confirm that the machines that were updated show their network as "Private" and not "Public"

You can see by right clicking network icon in systray. Window opens. On the left of that window is a link to "Change advance sharing settings". You can compare a working machine to a machine not working.

After that you could try some of the windows trouble shooters. Lets see how the above goes.

    Ken,

Sorry for not responding sooner! I am not using a Homegroup. I am using what the Windows 10 Missing Manual refers to as "Sharing any folder" method, which requires a User ID and password on the machine designated as the server. By now, we have had several updates and several computers don't appear on the network when I click on the "Network" icon using Windows File Explorer. Our application software still works except I can't print to the printers connected to the computers that are USB attached to those computers. It is so frustrating and totally caused by Windows updates. Everything worked fine before the updates. I resolved the first problem with the first update when I removed it off the machine but this doesn't seem to be a long term solution since Windows automatically installs updates. I will work on it when I get some time and I really appreciate your advice!

  6. Let me know, this can be solved. There is actually a setting in that "Change advance sharing setting" that says use User id and Password.

Ideally you should connect your printers directly to network, when ever possible, as you can print to printers without the need to power up computers.

    When you have time.
