Windows 10: PDF metadata not available in Windows 10 Home version.

I'm stumped. I've a laptop running Windows 10 Pro and can access PDF metadata. On my desktop running Windows 10 Home I cannot do this. Would a desktop upgrade to Pro correct this issue?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

PDF's in Windows 10, all versions

The option to show thumbnails for PDF files in File Explorer are currently dependent on the application that you're using to launch them. To better understand your concern, we'd like to know the following:

• If you're using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as your default application for PDF files. To check this, you can perform the following:
  

• Search and launch Default apps using Cortana.
• Click on Choose default apps by file type.
• Locate the .pdf file extension.
  

• The version of Windows 10 that you're using on your device. To check this, you can perform the steps posted on this

Why can't I see PDF file metadata in Windows 10 file explorer?

I am not trying to ADD metadata. I want to DISPLAY the PDF Author metadata in Windows 10 File Explorer.

I have a Windows 7 machine that worked fine in this respect. I upgraded it to Windows 10. Still works fine at displaying PDF metadata.

I now have a new Windows 10 machine. Copied the same PDF files from the old Win7/10 machine into the documents directory of the new Win10 machine. (And, of course, I ran an index.) Can't see the Authors metadata either in the column display format or by
right clicking an individual file and going to Properties, because the "PDF Information" tab is missing. (Is that characteristic of Windows 10? Reduced utility?)

(Superuser points out that "Windows doesn't have native support of metadata for every filetype." But come on. PDFs??? And they can't work something out with Adobe? But I digress...)
