Windows 10: people contact export from Windows 10 mail

I have installed Outlook new on my computer. I got my email that I use to sync with my emails and my groups.I can no longer get into Windows 10 mail my previous email app and my contacts did not come over. I have followed instructions on outlook but I think I can't import them because they were never exported from Windows mail. How can I get my contacts to come over to Outlook New at this point.

Exporting contacts (People) from Outlook.Live.Com

Using Windows 10 ver 1909.

I need to export the contacts from People in Outlook.Live.Com to a CSV file and have found several "how to"s on the web.
The mostly all say something like this.

You can export your contacts from Outlook.com and then import them into other email apps such as Gmail or Yahoo, or other versions of Outlook.

Sign in to Outlook.com.

Select People at the lower left corner of the page to go to the People page.

On the far right of the toolbar, select Manage > Export contacts..

All goes well until I reach the last step. Manage > Export contacts doesn't show up anywhere on the page. The closest I can come is under the diamond like symbol but it doesn't yield any thing about exporting or importing for that matter.

What am I doing wrong?

How to export contact list from mail app to outlook

From the first link you provided: "While you cannot directly export your contacts from the People app, you can export your contacts from Outlook.com to a CSV file and then import them back and/or import them into other email apps such as Gmail or Yahoo, or other versions of Outlook." They're going to retire Mail and force me onto Outlook but give me no method of transferring my contact list? That's crazy. I'm a little taken aback by that.

Hi Beth,

The contacts that are listed on your Windows 10 mail app are listed under your People app. The feature to export contacts from the people app is not yet available, but you can log into your People online using your Microsoft account to export your contacts.
