Windows 10: Performance issues with File Explorer selecting zip files in synced locations

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 11, I've had performance issues with zip files in my synced folders in File Explorer. If I have a zip file in a folder that is synced to OneDrive or SharePoint, and I select the folder, the program hangs/freezes for several seconds and the mouse turns into the little blue loading circle. It takes a significant amount of time for me to do any sort of interaction with zip files due to this. At first I thought it was the program itself, but then I realized it didn't lag on zip files in the Downloads folder and other local folders, so maybe it has to do with OneDri

.zip can't be set to File Explorer

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Type Default programs
  in the search bar and press enter
  
• 
  Click on choose default programs by file type
  
• 
  Select .zip
  and select File Explorer

Folders with zip files

just go to the root folder and do a search for all zip files, then select all and extract where you want.

 

How do i locate and then open a Zipped File

Greetings! I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. If you want to locate a zip file -

Open File Explorer

Click the folder where this zip file is. If this is not known, click C: (or appropriate) drive

In search box on top right, put following and enter to list all zip files

*.zip

If needed, you can narrow down by choose date and other criteria.

When you put anything in search box, Search tab will get enabled at the top. Choose that and select various criteria

If you double click a zip file that will be opened.
