I recently purchased a new DELL Alienware Aurora R13 computer Windows 11 Home and ran the Performance Monitor just to status it. I got the following error:The device, Intel RST VMD Managed Controller 09AB, is reporting a bad status value. This device will not be available until the issue is resolved. The Plug and Play ID for this device is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_09AB&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_00\3&11583659&0&30.Over in the device manager, Storage Controllers, Intel RST VMD Managed Controller 09AB Properties, the device status is listed as:"No drivers are installed for this devic

Intel RST service is not running

The Intel RST service is for the Intel Rapid Storage Driver. The Intel Rapid Storage Driver provides speed for data transfer and improves the performance for SATA drives or PCIe drives.

• What is the make and model of the computer and motherboard?
  

You can follow the methods mentioned below and check if that helps:

Method 1: Changing the startup type for Service

You can try changing the startup type for the Intel RST service and check if that makes a difference. Please refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press and hold Windows key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type serivces.msc and click on
   OK.
   
3. Now, scroll down, look for Intel RST service, right click on it and click on
   Properties.
   
4. Now, under startup type select Automatic from the drop down menu.
   
5. Click on Apply and OK.
   

Method 2: Updating the drivers manually

You can try downloading the latest version of Intel Rapid Storage Driver from the

Intel Website and check if that helps. However, I would suggest checking with the motherboard manufacturer website as well.

Intel RST: Not all performance features are working.


I recently did a Windows 10 clean install on two laptops, afterward I installed Intel RST on both of them using the executable (not F6 method). In Intel RST under performance features the only feature listed is Link Power Management; Dynamic Storage Accelerator and Smart Response Technology are both missing.

The one laptop only has a HDD. The other has a SSD and a HDD in the CD drive bay.

How can I get Dynamic Storage Accelerator and Smart Response Technology to show up?
If Link Power Management is the only thing available is there any benefit to having Intel RST installed?

 

Intel RST service is not running

Windows 10, 64-bit.

The desktop taskbar icon says that the Intel RST service is not running and I can’t get the application (or at least the UI) to open.

The thing is that the service IS running (as per Task Manger etc), consuming CPU merrily. I tested this by unplugging one of my RAID 1 drives, causing the info on the RST display at startup to report status as “degraded”, then plugging back in which changed
status to “rebuild” and then (eventually) back to “normal”. So, all’s well with the actual operation of RAID.

Installed Intel Driver & Support Assistant, which says that everything is up-to-date.

Can anyone help me with the problem here with the application/UI?
