Periodic BSOD with 'Fault in non-paged area' and other messages

I am experiencing BSODs repeatedly, and due to a large number of installed apps, formatting is not a possibility I am considering. I'd appreciate your help with fixing this issue (logs are attached).

Here are the symptoms/situation so far:
- BSODs started after upgrading to Windows 10.
- It seems like they stop happening for a day or two after restarts, but when the computer wakes up from shutdown it is almost always sure to crash. (Is a workaround, I keep the computer in sleep mode as much as possible when I am not using it. This seems to prevent crashes on the short term, but they still have been a day or two)
- I have a replaced battery that is not recognized by the computer (battery indicator on taskbar shows battery is charging, but never as fully charged/finished charging)
- Although to be also the messages change, one of the most common one is "Fault in non-paged area."
- Sometimes crashes happen only as a black screen and not a BSOD
- I noticed that they happen more often when I am opening/using Google Chrome and Outlook, and possibly also Dragon Naturally Speaking.
- After crashes, sometimes programs set to start up with windows does not start, and some settings with certain programs are reverted to default.

And here are a few of the measures I tried:
- I uninstalled all USB devices that I am not using from the device manager
- I have a few driver updaters installed on my system, but they were never used much (I used them to have an idea about a few unidentified drivers in the device manager) and the problem existed before their installation.
- I am aware that the issue might be because of an outdated BIOS firmware, but it has not been possible to find an up-to-date version of my BIOS (it's a pc from around 2011, and there seems to be no new BIOS firmware).

:)

3. BSOD Page Fault In Non Paged Area

Hi there,

Here is a link to my DMP file. https://ufile.io/c612q

Also, I ran WhoCrashed and it seems to give me a little more insight.

This is what I see on the HP web site for your laptop.

HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More | HP® Customer Support
https://www.tenforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=90707&s=c1e8b753a573dc6e5ffc1ac8c4009171

The BIOS you have is:
Code: BIOS Version F.04 BIOS Starting Address Segment 0 BIOS Release Date 09/10/2009
which is quite old. Definitely install the newer BIOS.

The latest dump indicates a problem with aswMonFlt.sys.
Code: *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for aswMonFlt.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for aswMonFlt.sys
This belongs to Avast Anti-virus software. I suggest you uninstall Avast completely then make sure Windows Defender and Windows Firewall aare enabled and run with them for a while.

Edit: Also just noticed this error:
Code: ffffd001`8926a038 fffff801`46e7979fUnable to load image \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\dump_iaStorA.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for dump_iaStorA.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for dump_iaStorA.sys dump_iaStorA+0x7979f
The BIOS update may fix this.

Thank you very much Ztruker for the detailed answer; it is certainly worth a shot and will likely to solve my problem.

I must have missed the available BIOS update on HPs site because it is only available for Windows 7 (and not 10, which is the OS I'm on) but this should not be a problem. I will proceed with the update and will let you know in a few days.

Right, BIOS is OS independent. Good luck.

I was able to finally schedule the maintenance session to today, but unfortunately, it looks like HP decided to remove the related drivers from their web site. (HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More | HP® Customer Support
)

I looked up some 3rd party driver download sites but there was no newer version of the BIOS (the ones I came across were from 2010); and I'm not sure how reliable those websites may be.

Waybackmachine also does not have a record of the page.

I'd appreciate any advice on how to proceed (and sorry for not grabbing the driver file when I had the chance).

Ok. I contacted them and waiting for reply. I just came across an explanation though (which wasn't there yesterday) on their website as an announcement:

So I'll wait until they make drivers available again and will report back. Thank you for your help!

Good that they are aware of the problem. Let's hope the updated driver(s) will resolve the problem.
