Windows 10: Permanently disable Group by view everywhere in Windows 11 Home

I tried all the suggested approaches I found, but the extremely annoying Group-by view returns, specially in Download folder and save as window.How can I permanently disable this everywhere, once and forever?Thank youStefano

How to Change the Group by View of a Folder in Windows 10 tutorial

The delay to reply was unrelated to this topic. I was preparing to add a disc drive. The preferred view is working now, and here is the step by step list of what I did, and it includes an additional step at the end. I also rebooted after each step.

1. Reset all views to default.
2. Rebooted.
3. Changed the "My Pc" view to Details and set the "Group By" to [None]. But left everything else at default.
4. Rebooted.
5. "My Pc" view retained the selected setting, alphabetically ordered "Details" without grouping.
6. Switched to Drive C:\, set it to "Details" and changed the column order to "Name, Size Type and Date". Grouping is available but not applied by the default settings.
7. Rebooted.
8. "My Pc" lost the settings, reverted to "Tile" and "Group by" was active again.
9. Reconfigured to "Details" and set the "Group By" to [None].
10. Rebooted.
11. "My Pc" view retained the selected settings. Alphabetically ordered "Details" without grouping.

 

Permanently select detail view and no grouping in ALL folders + drives

Hello,

I never ever want to see folder icons again in Windows Explorer. How do I PERMANENTLY select detail view and disable any kind of grouping in ALL folders, ALL sub-folders (especially in the Download folder), and in ALL local drives?

I'm logged in as administrator. I've made adjustments to Windows Explorer's View options many, many times but it seems that the settings are never set *permanently* for all folders, subfolders, and local drives. By permanent, I mean the settings survive a cold boot.

I have Win 10 Pro version 21H2 (OS Build 19044.1466). Btw, is this the latest build?

As an initial step, I suggest you to check if you can find the favorites in on the favorite folder on the computer.

Follow the steps below:

• 
  Press Windows + R keys.
  
• 
  Key in %userprofile% and press Enter
  
• 
  Make sure you have a Favorites folder listed in the %userprofile% folder.
