Windows 10: Permanently fix/disable updates - Windows 10

I've been looking for an answer to this for ages. I know this has been asked a lot before but I couldn't fix it in any way.My issue: when restarting to update, it goes to 99%, then fails and goes "undoing changes". Which takes a long time. I've been like this for over a year now, so I doubt that any future update will solve this for me. How to disable Windows Update Permanently from Windows 10 OS?

Hi,

I would like to ask question on How to disable Windows Update Permanently from Windows 10 OS?

Already tried the following:

• Stop and Disable Windows Update from services.msc
• Disable Windows Update from gpedit.msc

But once we restarted the Units, It will perform Windows Updates.

Some of our Applications are not working properly after these updates.

Creative X-Fi Soundcards and Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709 = Complete Disaster / Not Working

Thank you for trying to help , i did tried your suggestion but it did not work :/ , nothing seems to make it work on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709. In the meantime i have bought a new SoundBlasterX AE-5 and it did installed flawlessly , no problems whatsoever. it is up to Creative ( drivers ) and Microsoft ( bug fix ) to fix this huge bugs with Audio.

Too bad you didn't have a little more patience. It most likely is the Fall Creators update. It can take a couple hours. I am personally aware of 3 cases like yours where the user got impatient. If you look at Update History, most like you will see 1709 failed several times. I suggest you start it again and go to bed. In the morning, you will likely have to reboot, but soon would be good to go.

Disabling Windows Update is a bad idea unless you are very disciplined at manually keeping Windows updated on a timely bases.
