Windows 10: Permanently Stop Windows 11 from Changing Network Profile Settings After Update

Is there a way to permanently stop Windows 11 changing network profile settings after updates. The amount of times I have had to fix clients scanning issues because password protected sharing has been turned back on or the network profile has been changed to public is annoying. Is there a way to permanently set the network profile settings so that when an update is done it doesn't break connections to printers or local shares.

I suggest you to try the below steps to change a Private network to Public, and check if it helps.

• Click on the Network icon on the notification area, click
  Open Network Setting
• Double Click on network location.
• Turn “on”, Find devices and content.
• Close.

Yes, I suggest you to keep your drivers updated.

Windows 10 periodically checks for updates so you don’t have to. When an update is available, it’s automatically downloaded and installed, keeping your device up to date with the latest features and security improvements.
If drivers are also updated automatically with Windows update, the setting may change to default.

If the latest updates provided by the Microsoft is changing the profile settings, stop the updates from installing the driver software automatically. Follow the steps mentioned below to change device installation settings.

Steps:-

1. Tap on Windows + Pause Break, and click Advanced system settings.
2. Select Hardwareand tap on
   Device Installation Settings.
3. Choose the option No, let me choose what to do.
4. Select the option Never install driver software from Windows Update.

Change Network Profile

I don't think this quite answers my question.

If the network is recognised as a public how do i change it to a private network.

You were suggesting

• Under Private networking, check mark .Turn on Private networking.

the network is recognised as Public. What would changing Private network settings do?

• Click on save changes.

Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings.
