Permission denied to create or copy files in d:\

I don't know why, but I have no access to create or copy files directly in d:\. Creating directory works though. When I want to copy or create for example a txt file, explorer says:

Looking into NTFS rights, I already have all right and write access for d: and I am the owner:

I already tried to take over ownership again and overwrite recursive all rights on d:, without any luck.

Any suggestions whats going on and how to fix it?

    :)

This is by design, Windows now prevents creating files in a root of a disk, this is to prevent certain types of malware attacks

I can create files on my D: too, but it may be that your D: is now regarded as part of the system. Have you moved any part of the system there? Such as the Users folder? Or perhaps you have installed some of your software on D:?

d: still has very old "file corpses" of previous windows installations, like a users folder, or even a program files folder. But they are not related to the Windows 10 installation on c:. When I installed Windows 10, the old c: became the new d:, because I installed a new SSD which became the new c:. So I guess this is a bug, and Windows isn't clever enough to check, that d: is not related to the installation on c: ... maybe there is just a primitive check if a users folder exists on that drive? d: hasnt a windows folder anymore though. Sigh...

I suspect there are also some "corpse" permissions and/or ownership left over from when it was once a system drive. Compare those for your D: with one of the other drives where you don't have this problem. For example, My C: drive (where I can't create files in the root) is owened by TrustedInstaller, while my other drives (where I can) are owned by SYSTEM.

Like I said, d:'s owner is myself, like on e: f: g: too, c: is TrustedInstaller though. When you right click into c: there is just a "create folder" btw, where on other drives like d:, there is normal right click menu, but explorer denies and gives the above mentioned error code.
