Windows 10: Permission of a folder in Windows.old.

I recently went from Windows 11 to Windows 10, and I have a Windows.old folder full of old files.I'm attempting to retrieve a Minecraft Education Edition game file from this address: C:\Windows.old\Users\topvi\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftEducationEdition_8wekyb3d8bbwe However, when I click on the folder I need C:\Windows.old\Users\topvi\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftEducationEdition_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState I get an error signed in as admin So once I've got this error, I click Continue and then get a new error like thislease help, I know there is a limited time

I would suggest you to right click on the user's folder for your profile and check if the permissions shows as "read only'. If this is the case, it might be causing the issue. In this case, I would suggest you to go to C:\User folder, right click on the
folder with your username and follow these steps:

• Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
  
• Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
• Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.
  

This does a one-time action that replaces the security on all the files/subfolders. It’s one-time, so you won’t find that box checked if you peek at it later. Try these steps and let us know the results for further assistance.

 

Folder won't open due to permission issue

Windows folder security.

Is there a way to disable ALL windows security on folders? I'm using Windows 7 and trying to replace some system files that may be currupt and I get the "You need permission..." bitching from Windows. I know I can take ownership of the folder through the security tab but it's getting REALLY old having to do this for each and every file and folder I'm trying to overwrite. *Bang Head :banghead:

I'm the administrator for christ sake. If I want to open my drive and take a crap in it, do I need permission from Microsoft?
