Windows 10: persistent adware.elex.shrtcln hijacked my edge and google chrome browser

yesterday, suddenly while working on my own thing, rendering stuffs i always get redirected to a shopping affiliate link. did some research on what this is and immediately tried quick scanning it on windows which it didnt find anything except for a randomly executable name on my folders which is already gone and tatus is abandoned just two days ago in protection history, i did further scanning also using adwcleaner which detected a tencent file, some web links which are PUPs and MBAM detected both but with the adware.elex.shrtcln.apparently it has high persistency, i tried not syncing my googl

Bing Hijacked my Chrome Browser

As you are facing issue with Browser homepage, do let us know the following to assist you better:

• Which browser pops-up after the Windows startup (Microsoft Edge/ Internet Explorer)?
• Which is the default web browser on your computer?

I suggest you to make Google Chrome as a default web browser also, try to edit the home page in Google Chrome and check if it helps.

Hope it helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of this issue to assist you further.

 

www-searching.com hijacks Edge browser

My Windows 10 Edge browser start page has been hijacked by www-searching.com malware/adware. Spent 4 hrs with two MS chat support unable to figure out solution. Apparently this adware was downloaded with something else I downloaded...have no clue what.
The website does NOT appear in the control panel accessed software list.

Here is the URL that appears when I open Edge: www-searching.com

Has anyone seen & fixed this???? TY
