  1. Persistent immovable popups, adware, malware etc

Have use Win 10 successfully since released. two weeks ago I began being besieged by immovable persistent popups. Since then I have scanned HP Pavillion laptop with Norton, PC Cleaner, Reimage and AVG [free]. All of them found and cured faults, declared the system clean yet failed to resolve the problem. It was resolved by resetting Win 10 not something I would do again unless an emergency as there are other unresolved issues not present before. My neighbour has just visited saying that he has just experienced the same problem on a computer that he only purchased last week. Any ideas?

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Malware attached to Chrome, Edge, and Explorer Browsers

Popup window with following message interferes with browsing:

"Your computer is infected with an adware or malware causing you to see this popup. etc, etc etc."

Only options in the popup are two "buttons" - [Leave this page] or [Stay on this page}. Windows defender is up to date, but does not find any problem during full scan of Windows 10 operating on a Surface "PC".

Microsoft store employee removed Chrome Browser from Surface unit, and said problem solved. Have used Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge Browsers to access MSN.COM site. Both browsers trip the same "Malware Warning Popup" again.

How do I get rid of this malware??

  3. Problem with redirecting or pop up browser

    Hi

Try going into browser settings and look for an ad blocker or popup blocker andswitch them on.

You can also try using malwarebytes free version and or superantispyware 30 day trial to scan and remove adware/ malware etc.

Wonder why you had those problems ?
The following maybe the answer why.

Excerpt about PC Cleaner from a legit and reputable source :
    PC Cleaner

PC Cleaner is the name of a Misleading Application (rogue software) designed to display false information, such as claiming your system is infected with malicious threats or other system errors. Misleading applications may also perform annoying actions or inconvenience the user in order to coerce them into purchasing software to remove the nonexistent threats or errors reported. The Norton Power Eraser tool is available to remove the PC Cleaner misleading application.

  5. Thanks for that but I did not have PC Cleaner before the infestation. In fact in 20 years of using the internet I have never purchased any anti virus , malware, etc before this and relied upon AVG Free and Spybot. The fact that my neighbour now has the self same problem [we have zero computer communication], Norton cannot find it and we share the same service provider, BT, is making me think again but thanks for the info.

You should try doing a sweep with some antimalware/adware utils, like AdwCleaner, ZHPCleaner, RogueKiller.

I would start with RogueKiller, but keep in mind that it can be pretty aggresive. I would also run them from SAFE MODE.

To sum it up: Boot into safe mode and run those utils in this order: RogueKiller, AdwCleaner and ZHPCleaner. Before blindly deleting things, check the logs, you can UNTICK anything you don't want to be deleted (AdwCleaner, ZHPCleaner).

    Good luck!

PS - After doing some cleaning you should also check Operating System files integrity. Ask here for details.
Maybe in the form of "sfc /scannow" or something like that. I don't recall the dism command line right now.

I suggest you do what eLPuSHeR's suggestions. The logical ones to solve your present situations.

  9. Thanks for the advice. This was an issue I had for two weeks and which prevented me interacting with the internet until I finally resolved it by reinstalling Win 10 from within although I do have unresolved issues resulting from it. Prior to taking this action I had scanned with Norton, Spybot, etc all of which informed me computer was clean but still left me unable to interact with the internet because as soon as I clicked upon an internet page I was inundated with adware and blank pages. The only way I could extricate was by closing the programme via Task Manager. I repeat, that issue is now resolved, but would like to know what happened, how it was immune to anti virus programmes etc and how to guard against it in the future. Why did resetting [reinstalling] Win 10 overcome it? Why has my neighbour got the self same thing with a brand new HP laptop yet we never ever communicate via computer? Our only common resource is BT high speed.
I am surprised that no one appears to have come across this before In 20 years of internet use this is, by far, the worst thing that has happened to me. What I can say is that when I had the problem it was impossible to ask advice and, I assume, this must also be true for others.
