This was asked before and no one addressed the 5-picture limit. Every answer was on how to PICK the pictures, where to find pictures, how to use the slide show, where to find themes, but not how to increase the default 5-picture choice limit that is displayed in the personalization window. Is there a way to go into the registry and increase the default option limit of 5 to a higher number? In the previous version of Windows, you could add dozens of choices. Even whole folders. Why the 5-picture limit and how do you get around it?

By five pictures I believe you are speaking of the default pictures that come with Windows.

Another option to what has been suggested, if you want to rotate pictures.... Use the
Slide Show Desktop background option.

- First create a new folder called Slide Show in your Pictures folder.

Then pop the photos you want to use as desktop backgrounds in that folder.

Next select that folder in the Browse option that shows when you select
Slide Show from
Background in Personalisation.

When you get tired of some of these photos, simply swap them back out and put new ones in.

Check out the many spectacular free Themes you can download from the MS Store to Settings > Personalize > Themes to choose from: Windows themes - Microsoft Store

You can use your own pictures but most personal pictures are not as high resolution as the Theme packages which are the highest possible and some of the most expensive scenic pictures ever taken.



To get color back on the task bar, start menu and window frames after Version 1903 turned the Light theme dull grey:

To get the spectacular scenic backgrounds on the Lock screen when the PC first starts up, go into Settings > Personalization > Lock Screen and set the drop down menu to Windows Spotlight.

If you want the Fun Facts you can hover the mouse over on the Lock Screen or click to go to info pages about the scenes, change dropdown temporarilty to Picture, then tick the box to Get fun facts.... and change it back to Windows Spotlight.
