I have a phantom drive (KPhantom Drive that can be accessed but not removed :) that says it's my CD-ROM, but it's not. My CD-ROM (BD) is G:.

clicking on the drive in explorer opens it and I can access files within it - however - all disk utilities that I have tried show no drive K at all (COMPMGMT, DISKMGMT, DISKPART, and device manager).

Windows will not let me assign K to another drive (ie, a USB), nor is there any way I can see to remove the drive.

Worth noting that the contents of drive K are - Western Digital Sentinel DX4000 server recovery software that was at one time on a USB stick/emulated/virtual drive (It's been a while I can't remember exactly how/what the setup was.) All USB Drives have been removed.

Also worth noting that all of the USB drives of the same make/model no longer work when plugged into any usb port. (They are all Sandisk ultra flair 64g usb 3.0)

edit: Asking for help! Please and thank you!

  2. N95:8GB Phantom Access Point

    Hi Folks

After I upgraded my Nokia N95 8GB to the latest firmware it has inherited a new 'access point' - this is listed when I want to choose which method of connection when Im checking email but yet when I go into the settings menu to try and delete it - the phantom
access point is not there; all the other ones are there but its missing.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might remove this phantom access point from the selection list when I attempt to connect

    Many thanks in advance

    Phantom USB Drive

Both my Win 10 Pro (production system) and Win 10 Pro Preview versions*list a USB drive (each install is on a separate SSD). There is no USB drive connected and the status code, from what I find, says it is a*"NET" device. I don't have any network connected USB devices. If I uninstall it, in the Device Manger, it will come back either on a reboot or just scan for new hardware.

I posted this before, not on this forum, and never got anything resolved. I had this listed with an old motherboard. I recently upgraded my system to new hardware but the USB device is still listed.

Here are some screenshots from the Device Manger of the Preview system. *My production system shows the same thing.

    Cannot access shared network drive

Personally, I wouldnt use Everyone. If anyone hacks into you, they have full access to everything and can demolish everything on your raid. I would rather set up accounts and access separately for each person. That way, I know who did all that damage. In the end with a little extra work, I feel more secure by using Authenticated Users.

    If this helps.
step 1 create non-microsoft account and without email and address without admin rights
step 2 share a drive or folder to specific user account (if Everyone is listed, remove it)
step 3 set security > add Authenticated Users (if more than 1 account) or add specific users
step 3a remove Everyone from list
step 3b uncheck full control and write for all items listed except SYSTEM and Admin account.
step 4 right click Start > Computer Management > System Tools > Shared Folders > Shares ... to verify settings and change anything else. You can also see the number of connections to each share here.
