Windows 10: Phone Link on Windows 11 PC not working correctly not displaying received messages in the app

The issue we’re facing is that Phone Link will not show messages received and dsiplayed in the messaging app Google Messages on by our Android phone. The operating system is Windows 11 Home Edition. We have noted that there seems to be a secondary older Microsoft Account to our primary Microsoft Account in the form of an alias, given that we have ruled out any other issues, it seems likely that this might be causing the inability to set up Phone Link. At one point all features in Phone link were working except for displaying incoming text messages in the Phone Link app.

Your Phone App - Link to Windows not working

Has anyone found the secret to getting the Your Phone - Link to Windows App working correctly? Looking at the number of posts in other forums saying they have problems there is clearly a major issue with this App. It's a pity because it used to work quite well before recent Windows updates. Basically my phone (Samsung A515) will connect to Your Phone on my PC and I can see the headers of Notifications on my PC. If I try to read Messages or access Photos or open Desktop Apps it says I need permissions and asks me to click on a link to send a permission request to my phone. It never arrives. I don't see any permission request. Also it doesn't say what permissions are missing nor how to enable them. The response from MS is always to ensure that your phone and PC Apps are at the latest version (they are). I suspect there is a major bug in this App, yet others seem to suggest that it does work. Hopelessly confused. Winver: 21H1 19043 1237.

 

Windows Phone Link - Messages Send Notification not working

The Microsoft store and the Phone Link app itself state there are no updates available and it is up-to-date. The Google Play store on the Galaxy S22 lists the Link to Windows app as being up-to-date also.

Windows Settings / Windows Update lists no major pending updates, apart from its usual annoying message about upgrading to Windows 11 which I do not yet wish to do.

It does seem to be only this particular function that is not working. I am even receiving WhatsApp messages on the Windows PC, but because the Messages "Send Notification" is not working, I am currently unable to receive traditional SMS/MMS messages. I can even screen cast successfully.

Edit: I have done followed all the suggestions on the troubleshooting page, and have even tried reinstalling both Phone Link and Link to Windows, without success.

Phone Link app missing text messages

In Phone Link make sure your phone shows Connected. If it is Offline, click on

to try to resync the phone with Phone Link.
