  1. Phone not showing in Explorer

Hello there, this is one of those “but it worked yesterday” things.

I usually connect my phone, a Meizu M6 Note, via USB. In Explorer, it used to show the phone’s brand name, but for the last six to nine months, it’s just been called ‘MTP USB Device’. Not a big deal, I could still get my photos off.

    Today, it ceased showing up.

There are no yellow triangles in the Device Manager. In fact, everything there looks normal. Under Portable Devices, the phone is there, and the driver is up to date. I cannot see any errors under the USB controllers.

The phone itself charges, just as it always does, which means power from the computer or in this case, my monitor is still going to it.

I’ve switched both devices on and off, cleared the caches on my phone, unmounted and remounted the SD card on my phone, unplugged and replugged it makes the usual “device connected” sound, but Explorer just refuses to show it.

    Any thoughts, please?

    :)

Your list confirms my phone is eligible, Lumia 521. The windows Insider App fails after ~ 15 seconds, restores data and gives me error 80073cf9. I trouble shot this and went thru all the steps mentioned on several websites including MS without any luck. Short of a hard reset, this is where I am now. Suggestions appreciated.

When my phone fails to upgrade I just keep trying. One upgrade took 3 or 4 tries.

I think I'll put a list of people's favourite apps in the OP, starting with my own until I get some suggestions, but you can take a look at the Windows Phone app store at the top apps to see what's popular Windows Phone-Apps – Microsoft Store

You are both now added, welcome! *Toast :toast:
