Windows 10: Photo App Error (-2147219196)

Photo app will not load for quite a while now since a windows update, is microsoft making any effort to correct it or do we just write it off. All i see on the web/community forum is the same old answers which never work surely they know they dont work.

You'll want to look at "Step 4: Uninstall Photos, Remove Leftover Files and Reinstall".

(when you're at the psexec part, you might receive an error about access being denied to some of the files in the photos app folder (happened to me), just ignore them and continue untill the end of STEP
4).

When i first removed and reinstalled the photos app, it downloaded less than 100mb of data, and installed it.

With the steps, described in the above link, it downloaded over 300mb of data!

After install, the photos app is (for now) behaving as normal.

I'll keep you informed, should the problem return!

 

Photos app will not open photos - giving error code (-2147219196) and (-2147219195)

After executing windows updates, my photos app no longer works. The app and my windows version are the newest available. When I try to open a photo (jpg), the photos app displays for a second then closes and gives a pop up window that reads "File System
error (-2147219196)". After using the repair and reset options for the photos app, the issue is not resolved, however the error code changes to (-2147219195).

The solution suggested in the post that you referenced does not resolve the Photos App error 2147219196.

The linked solution is: UPDATE NOV 2016: Since I created the post below (roughly one year ago) it appears that Microsoft has added a new feature with the anniversary update that allows to reset the app without touching the
registry. I suggest you try this first: Go to Start, then Settings, System, Apps & Features and click on "Photos" app. Under Advanced options you'll find the reset button. If that still doesn't work, here is my old post....:

Also performed the command as suggested by Kapil Arya on 7/18.- unsuccessful.

Restarted my pc after doing both of the above suggested action and neither resolved the error. Still unable to use the Photos App.
