Windows 10: Photo App keeps opening several new windows whenever I click on a photo

Dear all,Microsoft Photos app opens a new window whenever I click on a photo. I'm wondering if I can simply click on the photos, regardless of which folder it's in, and it will open the same window. Simply saying that first photo opens on a new window and once you click another photo, it'll be opened on the same window. I didn't find any setting on the Photos app to change this.Thanks.

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
  Photo viewer.

Unable to open the photos in Photos App

• Are you getting any error messages when you try to open the photos?
• Do you have the copy of those photos and are you able to open those photos?

Open with another app 'photos'


Hi, yeah mine is set as defaut for the native photos app and it all opens as it should. Not sure how long it's been there.

My suspicion is it's legacy of past problems with the native photos app updating. I have had the app stop working on other user accounts following updates to the app. I had to create new user accounts to get the app working for them again. When things went wrong the photos app was acting like it wasn't installed on their accounts, so I went in and installed it through the store for them but nothing doing, it just failed to launch so I ended up creating the new accounts whereupon it was fine.

It's not doing any harm but I would like to see if it can be removed from the list. It doesn't appear on the traditional open with list in explorer when you right click and select open with in the context menu. It only appears in the new Windows GUI, so when someone installs a new app that can handle jpg or bmp file the next time you open a picture it gives you a choice to keep using the current app. Then it also offers up alternatives due to the new software/app being installed and that's when I see it
