Windows 10: Photo shows in Paint but is blank when opened in MS photos

Picture opened in MS Photos yesterday, today it is blank.

It shows in the folder with a thumbnail.

It is a JPEG picture.

It opens fine in MS paint.

MS Photos does show other photos.

Issue is affecting hundreds of photos while others in the same location view fine.

There is no error message when trying to open the picture or loading animation.

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
  Photo viewer.

Rotate a photo in Fresh Paint

Hi,

Rotating a photo within Fresh paint is currently unavailable. However, you may try these steps:

• Save the paint file.
  
• Open File Explorer.
• Open the location on where you saved the file.
• Right click on the paint file. Click on Rotate right or
  rotate left.

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

I did as you suggested and there was no option to set the default for photos viewer for photos. The only option it gave to select was PAINT.

I went to "set default by app" and changed those to use photos instead of paint. After changing those and these restarting my computer I then got the option to set the default for photo view to photos.

It took quite a bit of time to change all of these apps one at a time.

That was the only way I found to change the Photo Viewer Default to Photos.

There should be an easier method.
