Windows 10: Photo Viewer is intermittent, and I have to restart often

I was successfully able to open Windows Photo Viewer after installing the patch that allows me to use that instead of Photo. However, sometimes when my computer comes out of sleep it won't let me do it and I have to reboot it. My computer disconnects from the internet when it hibernates, but I was able to get it so it doesn't do that--even so there's a short lag once it reconnects. Is that related to it?

I have a Toshiba Satellite with an SD drive 256GB, Win10 Home and up-to-date drivers.

It's probably not fair to say that Microsoft "doesn't care about image quality," but this is something major that they've obviously missed.

I've noticed that zooming in on anything within the Photos program doesn't let you discern individual pixels - a result of this zoom interpolation issue.

An easy fix would be to allow different kinds of interpolations for different kinds of images. Or simply bring back the old Photo Viewer's zoom interpolation, as I've never had a bad experience with it and never looked at an image thinking that it looked
off.

I've tried using the old Photo Viewer, but after bringing it back via a registry edit, I noticed that it would often have performance issues, seemingly at random, and would have to be restarted. This is a problem for me because as I work, I often have 10+
reference images open at once, and to close them all and reopen them after restarting is tedious.

The other image viewers that I've tried don't work as "simply" as the Windows Photos program.

Microsoft should fix this problem as soon as possible. Again, this is the default image viewing program, which essentially makes images in a Windows environment look terrible. Imagine looking at a Windows computer and a Mac at the same time to compare "image
quality" - this looks bad for Microsoft.

 

Windows 10 Element Not Found Error

Every so often when Windows 10 updates, it will break Microsoft Edge and Photo Viewer. This is very frustrating, as I have over 20 PCs to deal with. FIX THIS ISSUE, MICROSOFT!! None of these suggestions work.

 

Try sfc /scannow from an admin command prompt to check / repair system files?

 

Maybe, the viewer is not compatible with Win10. In my case, I always use this PhotoViewerPro program for my photos and images. It is compatible to almost any Window OS.
