Windows 10: Photos app doesn't open anymore

    Scanner doesn´t work anymore after last Windows 10 update

    As many people on the internet already are discussing, their scanner doesn´t work anymore after the last Windows update. But there seem to be no solution.

    My Scanner starts making noises, as usual, and then i get error messages: "Communication with the scanner is not possible"
    or this

    Is there a workaround for that?

    Just updated Windows 10 on Dec 8, 2017--- NOW I am unable to import pictures from my smartphone to the desktop!

    The photos app is what was used BEFORE the update.. Now it doesn;t appear anymore. The photos app is there, it just doesn't open automatically anymore. That's why I have to go thru all the steps..

    Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

    Hello,

    It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
    Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

    • On the Start menu, select Settings.
    • Go to System, then go to Default apps.
    • Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
      Photo viewer.

    Update us if the steps above helped you in resolving your concern.
