Windows 10: Photo's app not showing local images

Photos app will only show photos linked to icloud and I only want my device to access local photos taken with the camera and stored. Despite having pictures stored locally none are showing in the photos app. How do I change the settings to show the photo's and videos taken on the computer without linking it to icloud.

We suggest that you reset Windows Photo app. Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R.
• Type %appdata%\..\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Photo_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
• Delete all the contents of the folder.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

First, ensure that the user has installed all OS updates and Store updates

for the Photos app.

If other apps are crashing besides the Photos app, it may

be a Store problem. Running the following commands will reset the Store:

would suggest you to reset Windows store.

1. Right click on start and select

‘RUN’.

2. In the Run window, type WSReset.exe and click “Ok”.

If the

Photos app is the only one crashing, it could be a problem with the Photos app

database. To reset the database, perform the following:

1. Press windows

button + R

2. Type:

%appdata%\..\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState

Delete all the contents of that folder.

If Photo app Crash on launch with the following error "The remote call to

procedure failed" when opening a picture from File Explorer.

This crash is a very specific issue that is caused by

using a registry cleaner like CCleaner. This tool deletes important files for

the Photos app. These files will normally be fixed with installing a Photos app

update. We recommend not using CCleaner because it can cause a lot of unexpected

behavior.

problem report:

If they are up-to-date, be sure to always ask for the problem because we can

use this to ensure we are tracking a fix. To ask for the problem report, give

the following instructions.

1. In the Search bar, type "View all problem

reports" and click on the result with the same name

2. Find the Photos app in

the list and find an event with a timestamp that matches a time the Photos app

crashed

3. Right-click on that event, and click "View technical

details"

4. Select the text containing the Problem Signature and Extra

information about the problem. Specifically, we are looking for the Bucket ID,

which looks something like this: Bucket ID:

5. Reply to this post with

that text. There isn't any personally identifiable information in the text, it

will just help us look up the crash details.

Can't convince Photos app to use local pictures file...



- the right hand one is in Pictures.

I suggest putting an image file in a folder not under a user account, adding that folder, and seeing if that is recognised and displayed.
